Wisper lid or FIPK ?

Any one better than the other? Is the FIPK better for the money?

Are you talking about replacing the whole cold air intake vs. just putting a new lid on?? If so, I am curious too. I don't know if the stock intake is large enough vs. any mod kits out there.

Also, SLP vs. K&N vs. free ram air

Go with the FIPK. Then do ram air with it and take out the windsheild washer bottle. That way you get as much air as possible from the engine bay. When I installed my FIPK with the ram air, I felt a huge SOTP difference. Havent heard the same for a lid/filter combo.

FIPK is its own independent system. You do not need a filter for it so in answer to your question it does not match with any filter.

What would I do if I got **** on my windsheild. Here's an idea. Clean it off. Wonder why nobody ever thought of that b4.

I got the whisper lid and K&N combo from Thunder Racing some time ago and, for the money, I love it. The FIPK seemed priced a bit too high. Although, I did have a FIPK for a '96 Tahoe and was amazed with the difference. I've heard power gains for the ls1 are close though between the FIPK (without ram air) and the lid. I'm thinking about doing FRA... I'm afraid of ruining my filter though since dirt supposedly builds up rather quicky. Can anyone compare FRA vs. a manufactured ram air system... advantages, disadvanatges, and power gains of both?

Not close at all. A lid will typically get btween 10 and 14 rwhp gain. The FIPK will get you at least 18 and up to 24 rwhp or more. I personally got 22 rwhp with my FIPK, over stock.

Sorry, I guess I'm wrong but I thought I read 17 rwhp gain with a lid and filter somewhere, and considering $320 vs $160 for a 18-22 to 10-14... didn't seem to be that much of a difference to me at the time to be worth dropping another $160 on.

ls1motorsports.com is claiming up to 20hp with their direct-flo airlid... although not everyone reaches that, anything close seems worth the money.. I guess it depends on your definition of 'close' in horsepower results and your budget on your air intake.

Most of the magazines I've seen seem to have more advertizing for the Direct Flow lids. Who sells the Wisper lid. I'd like to try a lid for now because it looks more like a stock peice and is alot less money. My car is still under warrenty and that FIPK is just too much of a reason to deny a warrenty claim.
