recomend some front tires for me

i work at Discount Tire so i can get a lot of stuff for fairly decent prices, but i wanna get some oppinions from fellow Fbody guys regarding a good front tire that will handle what i throw at it. im not gonna be road racing or autocrossing but i want something thats not gonna roll over or getting pushed around by the back end of the car at 60 mph on an on ramp. size will be 275-40-17. i want something thats gonna last a while too, they will never touch the rear of the car either, so i wanna buy some nice new tires for the front and never worry about em again, at least not for a few years. thanks

I am going to be running the Nitto 555's on the front of my car. I have heard really good things about them. They will last for guite awhile and they perform.

1) Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 (ultimate tire)
2) Toyo Proxes T1R (almost as good as the goodyear, but the price is noticably cheaper)
3) BF Goodrich T/A KDW

Both the Goodyear and the BF Goodrich tires should last for a while, assuming you aren't doing burnouts all the time, and taking corners at break neck speed. The toyos will have the shortest life.

Edit: check out this sticky. It contains tire reviews from this forum.

One thing to note about the BFG KD series of tires, there are three different tires:

KD
KDW
KDWS

And they serve different purposes. The KD is for dry ground only. Based on reviews of this tire, don't leave the house when it rains (Car and Driver did an article a few years ago on the best car tire, and the KD was horrible in rainy conditions). The KDW is great for dry, but also handles really well when the ground is wet. The KDWS adds snow to the mix. Not sure if you use your car in the winter in Chi-town, but if you do, the KDW's would be what I would go with.

I just ordered a set of KDW's for my front. They should be in this week and we'll see how they go! They'll accompany BFG G-force drag's out back

I have these. I'm pretty happy with them. Here's a review:

Pros:
1. They look awesome.
2. Transient responses and performance in general are excellent.
3. Wet handling is nothing short of phenomenal.
4. Less expensive than KDW's, with slightly better performance.

Cons:
1. They're loud.
2. They do not communicate at-the-limit information very well at all.
3. They are completely worthless in snow/ice.
4. As rear tires, they're pretty worthless for off-the-line traction (2.14 60' is the best I can do)

For my next set of tires, I'm thinking I'll pony up for some Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's. They're the only street tire that's consistently rated better than the GS-D3.

I'd also like to try a set of Nitto's -- 555R's in the back and NT-01s or INVOs in the front.
