GP Dyno Day 1/18/03

well since i just bought a 98 GTP that is BONE stock i decided to get a baseline before i tossed on a few mods. i asked dean at nedyno if he wanted to kinda host a dyno day for us and he said sure. a few of my friends decided that they wanted to do there fbodies and dean said itd be cool to have a hybrid fbody/GP day. we have about 7 people do far (4 GP's and 3 fbods). date is 1/18/03. let me know if you can come or are interested.

ok, there is a sign up list on www.nedyno.com. click on dyno sign up, then select the GP/Fbody day 1/18 and fill in your info and you are there! Dean does it so its easy to keep track of who is coming and what order to run them in. so sign up!

Well, I've got the 25-30th off, then the 1st, then weekends and evenings till then...

I need to replace my EGR valve, intake manifold is leaking...

Hotcam kit is on the way - if I do that, also the intake gasket, I have to pull it. If I have to pull it, then I might as well port match it, and if I'm going to port it, I might as well do the heads too.

Pull the engine to do so? I've heard it's a LOT easier to pull the engine then to work on it under the hood to that extent. I'll agree to it. Not to mention at that point I'd be able to do some detail work and check up on other things at the same time, but it means that I have to get the engine BACK in by the 18th, which I dont know if I can do... but I'm going to try. (I dont want to not work on the car over my break, that's one reason I took work off)

We'll see. If things go well, I'm there. If not, then I'll have to pass.

well keep us posted, there are a lot of cool fbody guys here. im sure we could find a place for you to crash, like i said, i have an open room. good luck with all that work man!

Id love to go, Im curious on how much this is going to run us, also is there directions on their site?

cost is $65 for basically as many dynos as you want, id say the average number is 3 or so, and $10 for a/f testing if their has been some mods done that might tweak that a bit. as for directions, go to yahoo maps or mapquest and take their addy off their site and see how it goes. where in SE mass are you?

Im in the Attleboro area. Right on the border with RI. Id love to go with my pal who has an SS with true duals, id love to see how he dynos compared to me but he goes back to college the 13th. Im sure finding the place won't be a problem, it's all a matter if I can make the time or not.

all you need to do is go 95 to 146 straight to worcester type the addy in mapquest to get exacts but basicly 146 north then a left at the green bridge in worcester and it is down the road a little ways.

My beast needs some more work before it's ready for the road. I need to install new fuel lines, brake lines, and redo the brakes. I will be starting that project in the next couple weeks.

So far I havent been able to get to the intake manifold leak, but otherwise I should be running well... But I'm loosing power somewhere along the line and I'm picking up knock here and there. I'm just hoping the car can stay on the road till then, considering since the 25th - the weather over here has been uncondusive to a high power RWD car...

But I've atleast got a new CAI on the way, and soon after a stb. I'm still hoping I can make it.

Hey Brian, count me in on this... I want to see what the RS is putting out before I start taking it apart or sell it. My84Z or anybody else from the south shore area want to meet up before and go up together? Hope it doesn't snow that weekend.. Brian hit up my cell when you get a chance... 508-317-4993..

How does the LS1 feel? Faster than the LT1 you had. Any guesses on rwhp for your new ride? Are you dynoing stock?

The ls1 feels like a high performance four cylander compared to the lt1. It feels like it has no low end grunt. The ss will be stock with a lid and loudmouth that i believe is stock with stock filter. I am thinking 320ish rwhp with the lid. I have to say the lt1 was just a little more than that. I think the lt1 was around 325 rwhp. i can't wait till the track opens.

Usually it's too busy to tune during a dyno day. I've been permitted to change tunes thu LT1Edit while on the dyno before, but the files were already created by myself ahead of time so that the only downtime was file upload.

Turns out work was pretty quiet till we discovered our new Charge Amplifier (for jet engine balancing systems) was picking up signals in the din rail mount version... So the case has to be redone out of metal and shielded properly, and the cases for 30 units get scrapped. So this weekend I'm pulling to 5 hour days to pick up some slack for the re-work.

My dad just recently bought a '94 Vette, and I want to show him what these cars are capable of.:cool:

17 cars signed up......im not sure if there is a single LT1 car dynoing, BUT dean can pull up some LT1 pulls for ya so your pops can see em, then dyno! :)

Well, I was the only LT1 there when I left, but I couldn't take the cold too long so I headed out early.....Anyways, I ended up with 271 HP, 322 Torque....My car was left there for them to install my hot cam kit...so after that and my comp tuned I shoudl have around 320 :)

well, it was kick ass as usual. 20 cars dynod in the end. i ended up with 210 FWHP on my GTP, which is 265 at the crank!! i got a strong one! to those who left early, one of the GTP's made close to 350 torque and had more in it except that we couldnt hammer it less than 3k into the rpms cuz it was downshifting! also, an NA 400+rwhp LS1 showed up and Mark ran his cobra again, 485rwhp and 521rwt, thats just insane for what hes got done to it. and hey, i set this up, dean just hosted it ;) in case any GP guys read this, WEAK showing......

I was satisfied with my 201 fwhp ;) Great showing today despite the weather, thanks to Dean for hosting another great dyno day even though its only my second time and thanks to uncle marc. for bringing the heater! that thing was my new best friend. :D

Nice showing guys! I was in the worcester area in my SHO, had no idea of the dyno meet, just swung by to say hi to Dean. I should have kept with the GTP/SHO rivalry and dynoed my car. You guys would've been pissed. :D
