I am about to order a set of c5 replica wheels for my 96z28. I am looking at putting 245/45/17's in the front and 275/40/18's in the rear. Anyone have any pros and cons on staggering the wheels. I know I won't be able to rotate them front to back obv.

Should I get 18's around?

your rear tires will be a bit taller than the fronts.

17s on the front and 18s on the back is what the C5s had and they handled above par

It's a personal opinion sort of thing but as I said in this thread (http://camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=599256) I didn't like the sidewall differences when I had the staggered wheels. It doesn't bother everybody though so go with what you like. :)

Those 275/40/18s will fill out out the rear wheelwells nicely,
and your car wil have a nice rake to it. IMO
I'm running the same size in the rear, and I really like the look.
Except I have 18s in the front with 275/35/18s.

Weigh your options, and choose what makes you happiest! :thumb:

C5's had alot more than just staggered tires that made them handle above par. Staggering to me makes a tire/wheel combo worthless cause you cant rotate them to extend tire life like youre supposed to. And bigger wheels in the back just look plain retarded. Do 17/18 with a nice 275/40 tire and all is good.

You'll love them. I thought they were going to ride harder than the stock size wheels and tires. But actually it just seems to tighten up the ride without getting stiffer.

(Yes I know the tires are on backwards in the bottom pic. I transfered the wheels and tires off the Green Trans Am to the Green Z28 above. But the pics let you see how they look on either a Z28 or a Trans Am.)

As for any problems? None. Speedometer is accurate. Rides good. Handles good. Really I see no downsides at all except for the fact that you can't rotate them.

Most of the time you don't notice the different sizes unless you really look. But it does give the car a bit of a more aggressive look I think.

It's all opinion, but to me I think 17" C5's all around looks too small while 18" all around look too big. The 17/18 combo works just perfect. :)
