You'll probably have better luck looking on Long Island.

Cool

J&B Automotive in Rockville Centre is on North Park Avenue off of Sunrise Highway.

Joe builds engines and does alot of performance work on domestic and imports. He has a few 9 second cars. I think he's part of Mouth Racing team.

516 536 5677

Take the Belt Parkway to Sunrise Highway and North Park Avenue is a left hand turn.

EDIT
He told me to quote $400.00 for SLP shorty header install with install kit supplied by you. Takes 8 hours. He'll do plugs with it but anything else is extra.

Cartek and Lizzard Racing both quoted me $600 for a header install. This is a horrible deal! Anyone know a better option?

Cool

$600 for this part of the state is the going rate for someone who is experienced with LT 1's. To do it right with no problems it is an 8 hour job with plug and wire change included.

You can go upstate and get it done for $425 to $500 by an experienced LT 1 mechanic; but be prepared for a 4 - 8 hour road trip plus road expenses (tolls, gas, food and lodging).

Be wary of cheaper quotes from shops with no experience in LT 1's. It will wind up costing much more in the long run.

Good luck.

MattucciMotorsports is up in Buffalo and very experienced with our cars can do it but they're an 8 hour drive from us down here. He's a board member here Steve10538 (?) with at least 10,000 posts. Been here forever and moderates ThirdGen Tech

jim88iroc305, thanks for the info. I guess your right. I really dont want to have an 8 hour trip though, and there's no way I am paying a shop that usually works on civics to do this. Perhaps I can pay someone from this board to help out who has done it before. How did you get your headers installed?

Cool

I have an office down the street from Mattucci in Buffalo and usually do a road trip from here to Albany, Utica, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo once or twice a year for business.

He did it when I was up there with plugs and wires. No problems with leaks, burnt wires or hoses, bolts backing out since. Perfect job for $425.00.

There's a guy on the board LT1Malibu who knows some performance shop in Valley Stream next to Queens on LI that works on LT1's. Don't remember the name of it though.

Joe at J&B does alot of performance work. He's part of a Drag Racing team and builds engines on the side. He's got a 1,000hp supercharged beast in an 88 olds delta that runs 9 second passes on nitrous.

Myself Joe and Mattucci are the only ones I'll let touch my car. Joe's familiar with my car. I'll ask him how much for an install. You're a single cat car, right?

Yes I am a single cat car .I have heard about Joe before and he sounds like a good choice. It doesnt sound too far either. I would appreciate if you found out the price. Would anyone here recommend a self installation instead of paying someone?
