Trying to piece back together '97 Z28 Monsoon (Audyssey) 12 CD system...

When I purchased my car way back in 2001, I knew it had a 12 disc in it at one point based on the exposed, hacked changer wire, but the car came with a crappy Pioneer CD player that somehow miraculously worked with the stock Monsoon or Audyssey system (Camaro white book says its Audyssey, and the invoice seems to indicate its not a 500w Monsoon, but everyone else calls '97+ a Monsoon??).

Long story short, the beautiful Xtant/Eclipse/Boston combo that's been in the car for 7 years might be yanked. The stock system, in retrospect, is good enough for my needs these days (I'm not 21 anymore!), and the factory system in my '91 RS needs a lotta help. I don't feel like spending the $$$$ to put a quality system in the '91, and because I drive it so much more, I figure I might as well transfer the system over to that car.

Sooo...I need to know the following...
1) Will any '97+ cassette deck with the proper mounts for a Camaro work in my car? Or does it need specific capabilities, like CD changer controls and a plug for the factory amp?
2) What kind of connections are needed to connect my "hacked" changer control wire back to a stock changer? All I remember is that the end of the wire was exposed (or at least taped up) before my friend and I blocked access to it with my JL Stealth Box with Eclipse Alumunium sub back in '01.
3) How does the changer mount to the car? I remember there being a bolt that stuck up from the trunk floor that we had to remove because it would've interfered with the sub movement and mounting. I assume I need to get an OEM screw, and have a bracket made to replace what we ripped out?

Thanks to anyone who can help. I hate to rip it out, because it sounds awesome and we even made a flush fit board so that the amp mounts behind the tailights on the inside panel...I was the only guy at the BG shows in '03 and '05 that had a sub and an amp, yet could use his t-top well :D It was well done, but I drive the RS 5x as much now, and I don't feel like spending another $2k+ to put a system in that car when I can be left with a factory-original, decent sounding one in my show car.

Seeing as how the system is a monsoon going into a non-monsoon car, the harness is a different size/style/pinout. without re-pinning the harness, it is doubtful that it will work in your 91. Typically with the monsoon you have one of two options. You can relocate the factory radio and essentially use it as an amp while your aftermarket deck will be used as a preamp.. or you can totally rewire the system. P.I.T.A.

if the "hacked" control wire to your change is one of the data/coaxial cables, you will need a new cable to make it work. anything is possible, but if it's spliced, odds are that you will get some bad-noise through the system.

No no no...I want to put the aftermarket system I have in the Z28 into my '91, and restore the Monsoon in the Z28 to working status. I have all the speakers...I simply need the head unit and the changer, and I will have a complete Monsoon system for the '97.

Hope someone can help...I went to the dealer and I can still get the changer brackets, the plug for the changer and the body mount for the changer screw...so I might be all set anyway...I just need to purchase everything...

I just pulled the wires that ran from the head unit to the changer including the wired remote control from my car. I could sell it to you if your intereseted. PM an email address and I can take some pics for you. Everything worked when pulled.
