Now burning E85...

Thought I would give it a shot on my old motor before I get my rebuild done. A lot of local guys run it without problems. And I had plenty of injector left with Gas.

So far it seems to run pretty good. Added 20% fuel everywhere and had to richen it up WOT some more. I also Added 2* of timing everywhere.

I had issues with KR at 4000 RPM before that are now gone. Ive added 3 degrees more timing in so far for WOT runs and it has not returned,:)

As far as converting fuel lines goes I havent changed anything. The only thing I am planning on changing is the rubber lines in the tank for my dual pumps. Some say the whole system needs to be upgraded, others say it will be fine. Guess I will find out!

I was really close to switching to E85, but since I'll daily drive the car and the closest station to me is 13 miles it just wasn't a feasable idea anymore. Here soon, I will run a second fuel system with pure 110 in it so I can turn it up on the fly if need be.

Yeah, If I had to daily drive it I wouldnt be running it. But I have to stations that carry it within 8 miles of my house and about 10 more scattered around town, so its not to tough to get here.

SWEET, as soon as a station opens up near me im all over it! I would say in the next eyar ill have E85.

Have you noticed the power increase? did you dyno it before on gas? Ive seen alot of the boosted guys switching over and loving it, some are saying its better than the race gas they were using.....

did you run faster with the e85 fuel?
thanks,
Scott

I wish they had it around me.....

I would try it

I dont have any track times with the e85 and the car was never really tuned with gasoline. I had a knock issure with gas so I decided to give the e85 a try.

I am showing 30* timing at WOT with no knock now:)

Im thinking about switching over to it. I have more 85 stations then I do 93. You should send me a tune for 6 psi on 42.5 injectors, low timing! Keep us updated my car is getting a new engine at the moment.

Im running a speed density open loop tune, the tune probably wouldnt work on any other motor. I can send it to you to take a look at if you want though, but I dont think it would work in your car. Im still working on it though.

Shoot it to my email.

are the 60# injectors cutting for you? i converted my friends n/a high compression 383 over (well i did the tuning) and his 42lb were maxed out. we had to bump the fuel pressure up to bring down the duty cycle.

My injectors are about 65% duty cycle up from 50% on gasoline. I am running dual walbro pumps to keep up with them.

Still going good?:D

Still running good. I might be imagining things but I think the car is running 5-10* cooler.

i wanted to try this, but all the stations around me are city owned (private), and on top of that the only one that isnt is 2 tolls, and a lot of driving away

So your injec duty cycle is at 65% at 5 psi? Trying to figure out how big of injectors I need to run 10-15 psi. :)

Im going to be running 15 psi sooner or later. My block and rotating assembly are at the machine shop now. Im not sure when I will put it in though.

But yeah, 65% at 5 psi and FPR set at 43 psi

Are you planning bigger injectors or adjustable fpr?

Doesn't the E85 also clean out your fuel system and combustion chambers? If so, I wouldn't mind running a tank per month with a tune for 25% more fuel and 2*+ timing thru the car to keep everything cleaned out.
