Think I ran into a problem (drain related)

so, had the car running this morning with eveyrhting assembled, etc.

After about 2 minutes, i believe i smelt oil, so i shut the car off.

My drain is basically horizontal, i think there might be a slight down slope, not sure yet.

My drain is a 90* fitting coming off of the bottom of the turbo, and i am pretty sure everything is parallel to the ground, i knwo the drain doesn't go up, its either perfectly horizontal or has a slight down slope.

Do you guys think my drain is my problem, or maybe i have a leak somewhere or maybe im just paranoid, who knows.

Look for leaks,
check the level - as long as its not empty it shouldn't hurt to idle it a bit
honestly the drain needs gravity, quite a bit of oil is flowing through there and it needs to be able to run down out of the turbo. One way to test would be to use a catch can below the turbo and just drain straigt into that... but if its flowing very much this would be a bad idea because you could drain your pan in a hurry.....

Also if this is the first time starting it there will be all kinds of crap that burns off the exhaust etc.... I say run it a bit more

yeah, my problem is, theres not really any way i can give it gravity unless I use a pump

guess i will check it by having the hose off of the oil pan and hold it where it is and see how it drains.

If the drain is parallel to the ground by design, what happens when you encounter a downgrade in the road of a couple of degrees or more?

If it's a street car especially, you might experience 25*(???) grades in the road. Not sure what max road gradients are allowed to be but you would want to design to 5-10* in addition to max gradients (tolerance stack :))

yeah, im going to try to find a way to get it a little higher. Hopefully I can get it done, otherwise, i have to redesign all my hot parts

well guys, got it figured out how to do it.
Just need to get a welder from my buddy again and get my brace redone.
My problem wasnt anything with my piping, etc. it was that wwhen i welded my brace, i welded on the wrong side (welded bottom instead of top) lol
