You'll want to repaint them as well. That paint does not hold up for very long, mainly just for storage and up to the point they reach your door.

Yeah, they have these stickers on them claiming "High temp paint", i know if i re-paint them, the only proper way is to strip them down to bare metal, thats alot of work lol, i've thought about just sanding them some, then going with a good Q paint, but if the cheap paint lifts after fire up, where would that leave the good paint, hanging on for dear life untill it cracks & falls off, so i may just say screw-it & install them, i won't be driving in the rain or through puddles, but IF i decide to re-paint them, whats a good HIGH temp header paint, let me guess, "NONE" LOL, serious thow, is there a decent paint for headers that'll hold up for a while.

The POR15 is a good paint.

How much will repainting them actually buy you? A few days, weeks, months? Isn't pretty much any paint going to burn off fairly quickly?

wow, How often do you have to repaint your headers? ...I would like to get hooker LTs and if I put them in, I would have to paint them over and over every few months?

From what I've heard, the POR paint holds up very well as compared to some of the other header paints on the market. I went the coated route and even that hasn't been bulletproof, my headers began rusting pretty quickly as well.

Get stainless headers and be done with the headaches.

Got the headers in, Oh my god, what a piece of cake, took me about an hr. by myself, that was cleaning off the heads & removeing the oil stick tube, this was one of the easiest header installs i've ever done, don't understand why some are having issues with the steering arm, that wasn't even an issue, neither was the oil filter, the pass side needed alittle rocking side to side till it slip right up into place, then it sat there perfectly untill i got to the top & started a bolt, which they were a breeze also, spark plug access is another sinch :), these PS LTs are a nice fit header for the price IMO, the ONLY area that i found to touch, was on the top of the pass engine mount, there is a lip that the one tube rest against, nothing a slight notch won't take care of.

If we lived close, i would be more then happy too, the hardest part of the whole job is all the intracut stuff that needs to be done, getting the headers in is a sinch.

Now that was getting the headers in & bolting them up, it was just over an hour, but the rest of the stuff is takeing much longer, of coarse i'm takeing my time, so all & all, i bet i'll have 8-10 hrs. in the whole job :)

I'm just about done, need to put the belt back on & let her down, i will say, the headers themselves went smoothly, but the rest was a Bitch, fighting with the ORY pipe, wrapping things, plug wires , i routed them in the stock location, here are a few pix of how i helped with any heat getting to the plug wires & fuel/brake lines, in all i'm happy with it, just hope it fires up with no major issues, wish me luck
