Temp of the manifolds?

I'm going to measure the temperature of the manifolds to see if they are all about the same. Whats the highest temp i will see? I will do this after a few minutes of driving so im not looking for the max they can reach. Will the outsides be slightly cooler? I need to know if my friends laser temp gauge will work.
