PWR-TRIP 04-01-2008, 10:51 PM I did a search on this topic and found jacksh!t.
After modding f-bodies (headers and cam) how much gains can you get from a tune done properly? Some guy mentioned anywhere from 5-40 RWHP. Is that true? or you don't gain nothing, but the car drives alot better?
bombebomb 04-02-2008, 12:52 AM After headers and a cam, if your not getting an absolute bare minimum of 30 from a tune, then something is VERY wrong.
PWR-TRIP 04-02-2008, 01:00 AM Wow, so how much power can we get from headers, cam and a tune?
Headers and cam prolly nets you around 15-20? Tune would net you 30? So, 50 more hp and trq?

Well, most people get a tune as soon as they get a cam normally. So cam gains are mesured after the tune "normally". I myself have only read about it.
VinceTrifecta 04-02-2008, 03:21 PM I've got a ton of dyno sheets from tunes we've done. The answer is that it varies greatly and it depends on how spot on the tune was to begin with. I've seen gains from 10HP to 50HP at the wheels, and similar amounts of torque. When people ask I quote typical returns are between 15 and 30HP and similar amounts of torque. PM me if you have some more specific questions, I can see if I had a dyno sheet that matches the mods.
Note that I'm speaking about tuning only. Cam changes, even without tuning will increase the power as well.
JakeRobb 04-02-2008, 03:25 PM LS1 cars can gain 100rwhp with a cam, full exhaust, and a tune.
Another huge variable here is cam choice.
dookie454 04-03-2008, 07:47 PM I gained 350hp from tune, cam, heads...
oh, and 7psi
So I guess that means I gained 200-250hp from cam and heads, + tune
rgenzmer 04-12-2008, 09:32 PM Got a 2002 Camaro SS with long tube headers and a cold air force system. Had a Mustang dyno tune that went from 252 to 264 hp with a Diablo tuner.
How come I only get 264 hp when everyone else is getting 320 plus and I was supposed to get 345 hp off the truck?

Because you're on a Mustang dyno. They measure horsepower differently than DynoJet dynos, which are far more common (because they're less expensive). 99% of the members here get their numbers from a DynoJet.
The Mustang dyno gives you the more accurate number. Accuracy isn't important, though. Dynamometers are just a tuning tool, it really doesn't matter what the actual number is. What matters is whether your number went up or down after you change something, when measured on the same dyno (and ideally in the same conditions).
jay_rich 04-14-2008, 06:03 PM my buddies 99SS gained around 50RWHP after a tune for heads, cam headers. He put down 390ish with the stock tune, After the tune he put 440ish RWHP.

94greenta 04-28-2008, 11:35 PM Even on my pretty much stock Lt1 how much power could I gain off of a trifecta tune? Mods are in my sig and I use premium unleaded fuel. I read on there website that even tuning the car for the premium fuel with near stocks engines you can see 10-20 hp gains... is this true?
