Will it kill off alot of low-end, its on a 97 6sp, 3.42s, i'm wanting to go with 15" Pro-Star wheels (summit) & 275/60/15 MT street radials, i'm currently running 255/40/17s, who has done this, how did it differ, i have a programmer, so recalculating the speedo is no problem.
I already have the wheels, 15/8s & 15/4s
Thanks.
It would definetely be better than running with 17's wheels. I'd reccomend going to 15'' with a 28'' tire, you'll have a lot better traction...

You shouldn't go to a 28" tire unless you have the power to use it. A 26" tire will be more than adequate for most NA applications. A 28" tire is big and heavy. The center of mass moves outward from the axle. It takes a lot more energy to accelerate the mass of a 28" tire, compared ot a 26" tire.
A 28" tire will make your 3.42's feel like 3.13's (if there was such a ratio) compared to a 25.65" street tire. And that's not accounting for the issue with the greater mass to accelerate. You would have to swap to 3.73's with the 28" tire to make it feel like your 3.42's do now.

Thanks, now to decide what tire to put on these 15/8 wheels, but if thats the case, i might as well stick to the 17"

A 15" wheel is going to provide a better tire for the track. A 15" wheel with a 26" ET Street, ET Street Radial or QTP will hook a lot better than anything on a 17" wheel.
