Jet Hot header gasket questions

I have some Jet Hot headers that I thought were sealed up good. After taking the engine apart to find the clips from my comp r lifters, I noticed some black around exhaust ports on #8 and #'s 3&5. I didn't want to use the paper gaskets cause I was afraid of them not sealing. Instead I used percys dead soft gaskets. Ialso used them on the collectors. They sealed excellent on the collectors. All the bolts were tight and I always rechecked them. This build only had 2000 miles, if that.
Nothing wrong with the header flange. What is a good gasket to use that will seal? Does any one use the hi temp sealant? I don't want to use that cause I should not have too in the first place. Any help would be appreciated.

I used FelPros sprayed with the copper high temp spray. I've had no sealing issues.

I have never heard of this hi temp spray. I assume it can be had from any of the parts stores? After the percys, I am at a lost for sealing. I thought for sure those were the cure all. Is there anything out there that will "crush" better? I bet those gaskets would have worked better on iron heads.

Yeah, it was that Permatex spray, pretty sure I got it at Autozone.
