Alright, not sure if my connector is working properly, cant really move the car to get it scanned and dont know anyone with a scanner. How would I be able to test the obdII connector on my 96 Z28. Not sure which pins are the only ones being used on my car and not sure which ones to test.

Guessing I need to test for power to the connector, ground, and somehow the wire that transmits the data from the pcm. And if one is not working, guess i gotta check my wiring.

I have a volt/ohm meter.

Any help appreciated.

Have you checked the fuse? It's on the same circuit as the cig lighter.

You could use a meter and wiring diagrams to verify continuity on the leads, wherever they go.

i know how to test the positive and ground, but about the wire that gives the data from the pcm, does it give off any kind of pulse or positive or negative? any way to test that?
