djlunchbox 03-26-2008, 09:41 AM does anyone make them for an LT1? i'm sure i've seen them somewhere before. all i see in summit are the bbk chrome one's, and i really do not want to polish those all the time. i want no rust, thats why i'm looking to stainless. thanks!
edit. i see kooks headers seem to be stainless. any less expensive one's ? specificly mid legenth.
Lisa33 03-26-2008, 09:53 AM You have a set of new SLPs in the sale section.
2000GTP 03-26-2008, 11:22 AM Kooks are the only ones making stainless LT1 headers as of right now. Everyone else offers either painted steel or coated steel.
Canada 03-26-2008, 09:50 PM Stainless is really the only way to go.......not only will they last forever, but they look PRETTY. Check out ws6store.com.

Who cares what other people think about stainless's "burned in" color.
Folks in the know, know they are superior. I mean, really, if someone
complains about the "color", explain the merits.

Wrong.

supposed to be cheaper than kooks...and have a little better fitment. I will be recieving a set out of the first batch of 50.
SNOTGREEN 03-28-2008, 08:16 AM Kooks & SLP and a couple other companies offer them. I had the SLP's on my '95, wanted something bigger, went with stepped Kooks for an engine build/match. Neither were coated, neither have/had rust issues. Then again, the car pretty much stays in the garage except here and there, so I'd say you get what you pay for with headers as with most quality parts. If you're looking for the cheapest option with gain, I'd say perhaps pacesetter long tubes and have them coated?

Are these the headers being talked about on LS1Tech? Better fitment than Kooks? That's the first time I've heard anyone make that claim about those particular headers. Didn't the guy have to remove some steering linkage to install the mock ups? I didn't have to remove anything, lift anything, etc. to install my Kooks, but I got straight 1 3/4", vs. stepped. Those headers are 321 stainless, which is supposedly a better grade than what's offered by Kooks.
Wrong.

Holy Christ. And people complain about Kooks prices. Not to mention the Y-Pipe appears to be only 2 1/2".

Their $1400 price includes the y-pipe. I ended up paying about the
same for the Kooks, but I got two high-flow cats with the y-pipe.
I paid cheaper than that for them...hehe. I'll get pics in as soons as I get them installed.

Neither is their catback, I was inquiring about that awhile back seeing if anyone on here had that installed and how they liked it. I didn't get any feedback regarding it. I didn't realize S&W was making stainless LT1 headers, haven't seen anyone on here running them either.
Those SW headers look like they're coated in their pics.

Maybe they are, according to that site, coating is an option for an extra 325.00 dollars.
It says they're the coated version in the caption, so they don't have pics of the regular stainless steel LT's I believe.

Are you saying that their catback is 2 1/2"? That's smaller than the stock exhaust, isn't it?
I guess those pics could be of their coated headers. 1700+ for coated with Y-Pipe is quite a bit more expensive than Kooks. I wonder if they have a dealer network that offers them at cheaper prices.
Their prices unfortunately are the reason why no one runs them. I've seen a set of the coated stainless steel LT's in person, they're a dandy. However I'd never pay close to $1700.00 for a set w/ y-pipe

I never said the catback was that size, I just said I posted a couple times a year or so back in regards to this catback and if anyone was running it on their car. I was curious as to the overall fitment, sound, and quality in relation to its pricetag.
I guess I didn't understand what you meant when you said "Neither is their catback".

I was stating that just like their headers, the catback is not cheap either. Sorry for the confusion.
Ahh. I'm with you now.
I wonder if their stuff is any good.

Thats what I wonder too. I've made a couple posts in the past and tried doing some google searches and really haven't come up with anything. Somebody has to be using those parts as some of the bigger vendors do sell them.
Jeff H 04-03-2008, 06:28 PM You may want to wait and see what the results are with the LPP headers. I have their stainless headers on my 00SS that I bought used. They still look great and seem to work well with all emission's fittings. They also have really thick flanges so warping shouldn't be a problem. I got my used stainless headers for $160 shipped so I can't complain.
The guy finally came out with a price on the LT1 LPP headers. They're pretty darned cheap, imo.
Yeah...500 bucks for a set of Stainless Steel LT's and $150 for a y, w/ free shipping. I thought I'd never see the day. I've had mine for awhile, just been too busy at work and home to get them on. Cool thing is I'll be able to reuse my new dual exhaust on them...can't wait.
BTW this guy has the potential to corner the LT1 LT header market w/ the prices he offer's. :) Make's it seem like all the other manufacturer's have been robbing us for years quality & cost wise. You'd spend 1,300 going with kooks to get the regular 1 3/4 w/ y pipe. You'd save $650.00 going with the LPP LT's 1 3/4 to 1 7/8's ...how insane is that? Maybe these header manufacturer's will wake the f'up....I doubt it though.

2000GTP 04-11-2008, 07:04 AM Wow, those are cheap. A set of coated Pacesetters runs close to that cost and I think we have all seen the quality related threads on those.
SNOTGREEN 04-11-2008, 07:22 AM Perhaps I'm behind the times, but who is LPP, those things look nearly identical to Kook's. Very nice!
http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=862878
OP is the guy who had these made.
I've always thought the primary routing on those headers appeared identical to Kooks. They almost appear to be identical in general. They are also 321 Stainless, which is an upgrade in material compared to what Kooks offers. I'm not sure how they will stack up quality wise with Kooks, but I highly doubt they're going to completely suck butt. The LPP guy did mention that he had to remove some steering linkage to get them in, which wasn't necessary for my Kooks. But, mine aren't stepped.
There are dealers that offer pretty good sale prices on Kooks. I know you can get their 1 3/4" with y-pipe for considerably less than 1300.00. I paid quite a bit less than that, and mine are coated. I would think Kooks will have to adjust their pricing, but who knows.
If this guy advertises properly, Pacesetter should never sell another set of LT1 headers.
Bowtie4life 04-14-2008, 10:15 PM I bought a set, was on the reserve list, so in a couple weeks we'll see how they are.:)
and I believe he had to remove the steering linkage and the starter, but for what they are, and the price, you can't beat them.
