Audiovox alarm has slowly screwed itself to nothing... Help!

So when I got my car, everything worked. It had remote start and it chirped and had a really nice alarm with bump detection.

First the remote start stopped working. It would still make the noise like it was going to start, but shortly after, instead of starting it would then play the noise that it made when it shuts itself off (the remote start only lets it run for like 5 minutes then it plays a noise and the car shuts off and locks)

Now over the winter my alarm has stopped working entirely, and there is no more noise when I lock the car. The remote still works to lock the car though, and the lights still blink as they did before. Also, the blinking light that is supposed to come on when the alarm is armed just stays on all of the time no matter what now.

This happened during the winter when it was real cold out, and the car sat with the battery dead for a while. When the battery died on the car, the alarm would chirp over and over again until the battery went dead, and I left it sitting there dead for a few days. But when I finally went to start it again, I charged it with the battery charger and thats when the alarm stopped working and the blue armed light hasn't come off since.

Any help on this? I'm clueless about this kind of junk.

First thing I would do is change the remote battery. Might make everything work again haha

I did do that, it was actually dead. But that didn't fix it lol...

I also checked and made sure that there were no fuses or loose wires on the actual module itself that goes under the steering column. Everything was good under there.

Take a look at HOW it was installed. There are way too many hack shops that'll use scotch locks and T-taps. All those do is fail over time. I believe in M.E.C.P. and it's never done me wrong. Check and if necessary, solder in your connections after testing (it did work at one time right?)

If that doesn't solve your issue, check the fuses on the remote start/alarm itself.

This should AT LEAST get everything functioning so long as the unit isn't defective. If it works, you may need to reprogram your passlock bypass depending on what unit you have. dei 556u's work wonders and they are EASY.

As far as the remote start not working it's either an issue with the bypass, poor connection, or your tach wire. Start with the easiest. Find your valet switch and try to reprogram the tach. If it doesn't reprogram, make sure it's connected to the right wire.

If none of this works, sounds like you have a bad unit.
