IROCThisZ28ForLife 03-12-2008, 05:30 PM So yeah, went to drain my AC yesterday, and umm yeah, I wouldnt drain...I had a rag, and a screwdriver, and pushed in the valve, and nothing...What am I doing wrong
Before you post dont say take it to a professional, because the car wont be moving for at least 2 months, so yeah...
ANy ideas??
Maybe you had a leak? Why were you draining it in the first place?
IROCThisZ28ForLife 03-12-2008, 05:34 PM Im trying to remove it
I guess I should have read the title. Perhaps you had a leak, did it work earlier?
IROCThisZ28ForLife 03-12-2008, 05:40 PM Yeah, before I removed it...well started trying to it blew ICE cold...Kinda hate having to lose it but W/E

euforia51 03-12-2008, 07:49 PM Dayum... look at that engine bay! :D
IROCThisZ28ForLife 03-12-2008, 09:04 PM lol, its not mine....lol
no one has any info on this? should i slowly lossen the nut that connects it to the cabin?
mr_camaro96z28 03-12-2008, 09:30 PM there is a low and high side hook up did you try pushing on both schrader valves? Try that first and if you get nothing you prob had a leak and there is no more refrigerant in you system. At that point you could start slowly unscrewing it just be careful. I have never heard of those getting clogged in any way and if they move then their working. If they were clogged then your compressor would get crap in it and have shelled already.
dangalla 03-12-2008, 09:44 PM just disconnect a line, it wont hurt you. it may scare you though
IROCThisZ28ForLife 03-12-2008, 10:55 PM yeha i tried pushing both valves, but not at the same time...hmm, gotta try that, are you guys using any tool in specific to drain the valve? i used a flat head screwdriver and nothing, if not i'll loosen one bolt and see what happens...
BigBadBlack93Z 03-13-2008, 02:47 PM get a schrader valve removal tool, you can do it w/ a sharp pair of needle nose. If nothing is coming out then nothing is in there. just back the manifold bolt off from the compressor about a 1/4 turn and it should release whatever else was in there.
IROCThisZ28ForLife 03-13-2008, 05:20 PM ok cool, ill try that later on today
IROCThisZ28ForLife 03-29-2008, 05:36 PM i know its a dead thread, but wanted to say thanks guys, i took it off today from the thing by the windshield, dont know the exact name, both lines are out...
SNOTGREEN 04-01-2008, 01:49 PM Hey hate to bring up your old thread, but did you have any other issues of consideration before removing the entire ac system? I have that to do coming up real soon. The system has already been evacuated. Such things as, aside from either a blower or ac delete pulley, is a different bracket needed etc? Thanks.
IROCThisZ28ForLife 04-02-2008, 05:45 PM you just need the a/c delete pulley, it comes on the required bracket, and may be a diff belt size, im not sure...
SNOTGREEN 04-08-2008, 10:51 AM Cool thanks man!
SNOTGREEN 10-10-2008, 01:25 PM Dead Thread Update - sorry, but did a search and found nothing, and need to know if I'm missing something else here...
Last night attempted to remove the AC compressor, everything else APPEARS to be removed - evaporator, condensor, line connected to the back of the compressor, and the 1-bolt bracket, 3 front bolts...It's loose, and even w/the alternator removed, this thing is not moving from the stock location. Does the power steering pump have to be removed as well? This is on a '93 LT1 Z28. Thanks for any/all help folks. Was hoping to install my ac delete pulley and turn some new times tonight. :)
IROCThisZ28ForLife 10-21-2008, 08:00 PM umm should come right out./...hmmm
