I have done plenty of heater cores in late model F-bodies, but I want to know if there is any secrets and some direction in replacing a heater core in my 67 SS. This is a no A/C car if that helps.

Thanks!

Drain coolant from heater, loosen and remove the six speed nuts from the engine side, disconnect the two heater hoses. The seventh nut is on the other side of the blower motor and no need to take it off.

Open pass door, remove glove box and its door, just to make it easier, place a large sheet of plastic from right underneath the heater box, up the trans tunnel, kick panel, and seat and route it out over the rocker panel. This is to catch the remaining coolant inside core, believe me, there will be some there. Duct tape plastic up into the shape of a bowl.

Place hands at the far pass side of box, and pull hard to loosen box from the sealant. Rotate box carefully onto floor, watch for cables, coolant, etc. Removed box should have core hose connections pointing up.

Take a 5/16 nut driver and remove clip. Pull up on core connection tubes to remove core from box.

Assembly is the reverse.
