Selling car soon, what should I ask? What's it worth?

1993 Z28
A4, 3.23, 123k miles, red exterior on light gray cloth interior, power seat, windows, locks, mirrors, Bose sound

25K miles or 1.5 years left on transmission warranty (GM SRTA installed at 100k) brand new opti, all new fluids, newer plugs/wires, cat converter, heater core, window motor, window/lock switches, ac *****, dash top, and other interior pieces. water pump at 75k
clean interior (with the exception of a ripped driverseat), paint shows its age with spider webbing on rear bumper, fade on front bumper, and rock chips on hood...still looks good when washed and waxed though. Leaks oil, probably intake manifold. No mods.

Realistically, what can I expect? $4500? More? Less?

Thanks

Friend of mine sold his for $3500 a couple of months ago but it was a POS! In good shape they are worth around $5,000. I think you are pretty close with the $4500 guess.

I'd say that here in TX the most you'll get out of it is $4K. You might ask a bit more, but if somebody offers you $3.5-$4K, you should definetely consider letting it go.

Good luck!

dont give it away man! Look at the autotraders and see what they are going for, people are asking between 5-6K for ones that are in good shape. i say ask top dollar but know deep down what kinda of cash it will take to sell it. You never know when someone might just see your car and love it and pay you what your asking.

Of course nobody wants to give anything away, but you also have to be realistic.

If
people are asking between 5-6K for ones that are in good shape
, then, considering the blemishes his car has, the ballpark asking price of $4.5K is pretty accurate.

Remember, we are talking about just asking prices and usually everybody gets down on the price once they've found somebody really interested in the car so the actual transaction price is lower.

The major thing with his car is the oil leak. Once Joe Average sees it, he will either want to knock the price way down on forget it completely. Therefore the asking price needs to be reasonable.

FWIW, the "private party book value" of a 93 Z with the miles in good shape is $4.7K. And usually those prices are higher than the actual transactions happening between two individuals.

Again, good luck selling!
