Are the protesting like that one gas station was or is it honestly that expensive there...

 

Big Sur is a remote location along the central coast, therefore I doubt a protest is the reason behind it.

 

Gas has always been ridiculously expensive in Big Sur. There's only a couple gas stations on a very long stretch of coastal road, and they can pretty much set prices to whatever they feel.

 

Isn't the state supposed to regulate the price of gas to within xx cents of the statewide average? That's how it works in Michigan anyway.

 

That would be state law, not federal. Mississippi is kinda like Michigan in that our economies are kinda venerable and we just couldn't afford price swings like that. Cali is.... whatever it is, lol.

 

I cant remember the place, but there was a ****hole off of 10 comming into califorina. Only place to get gas in like 40 miles. It was always about a $1.00 higher than anywhere else.

 

Here in Siskiyou County CA its 3.678 for Reg and 3.879 for Premium. We are definately being sheistered!!!

Those darn hippies in Big Sur

 

I paid 3.009 per gallon of 87 octane a few hours ago.

What is the .009 for anyway? I've never understood...

 

there is a gas station next to the airport here in orlando that does not advertise its prices on its sign but rather profits from people who do not look at the fuel prices before they fill up. their prices are regularly $5.xx or higher

so one or two stations jacking their price up and getting press is just the media fear mongering

 

It's so that they can say they're charging 3.00 per gallon, when in reality they're charging more than that.

For example, if you buy 10 gallons of gas...

3.009 x 10 = 30.09

...so they're actually charging you an extra 9 cents.

 

About all volume industries and commodities go to the thousandth of a dollar in volume pricing. We go per/M sometimes so when you throw it into cents on the per/M price, the per/1 price is like freakin 2.5459 lol
