The good stuff:

Infinity subs...Perfect or Reference
JBL Power series mono amps BP600.1 and BP1200.1
All Alpine subwoofers and amps
Audiobahn subs

All reasonably priced

Buy your stuff off of ebay and save a lot compared to local shops

first of all amps don't add or subtract from the sound quality of the system as long as you compare two similar power amps.... The only thing i can say there is don't buy the crappiest thing you can find and you should be alright.

as far as subs go.... these are all worth the money....

Elemental Designs K series
Adire Brahma, Shiva and Tempest
Eclipse Aluminum
Image Dynamics IDQ and i will be able to comment on the Max in a couple weeks.
Alumapro Alchemy
Alpine Type R

IMO out of that list the Shiva and Elemental K series are the best buys, but the more expensive ones are still very worth the money.

Beyond Audio Inhuman hands down. It may not be cheap but it is a better deal then a W7.

LOL wait till you hear it..... then you will get a kick out of people saying that. Seriously it matches and in some cases surpasses subs twice its price.

The Shiva is easily as good or better than the old w3 and w6 series subs.

As far as the L7, it will produce bass more cleanly than the L7 for sure, but it wasn't designed to take the kind of power the L7 can. If you are going for SPL the L7 would be a better choice, but IMO the Shiva is a better all round sub. It is designed to go in a smaller sealed box, it is a LOT more efficient, and it IMO sounds worlds better. better for an every day sub IMO.
