Which yank torque converter for my camaro??

I have a 1997 z28 Lt1 I have after market pace setter headers and a borla cat back exhaust The transmission is a stock A4 and also I have a cold air intake. I have 114,000 miles on the car and she still runs like a champ. My question is im lookin at torque converters and the yank as far as ive seen has been recommended over vigilante and the others. My question is which model yank should I get, I have talked to one person on here already who reccomended a 2800 stall which im takin his word on. I would like to know price plus labor if the place I got is $50 an hour. I would much appreaciate the help. Thanks

Most places charge about 250 to R&R a transmission.

Probably be fine with a Yank SS3000.

Vigi 2800 would be fine too.

Just call Yank, 775.826.9955, and Dave will probably answer the phone... tell him about your car and he'll suggest a converter that suits you very well.

So much info here. If it were me I would order a yank3200-3500 stall, add a hot cam kit, then a 100-150 shot of N2O

I have a Yank 10" 3200 rpm stall as well as CC503 cam. The engine idles around 800rpm and I have to keep my foot on the break at stop lights. Matter fact I can sit on a hill, let off the break and not roll back. Yank makes a fairly tight converter, so I wouldn't hesitate installing a 3000 rpm stall in a stock car. Keep in mind that when just cruising you really won't see a difference. When you punch it though, your engine will wind up a little farther before it really takes off. This is not a bad thing, it just takes a bit to get used to. You will be faster overall.

I wasn't suggesting that converter for you. You said that you wanted to make sure that for a DD 3000 would be too much. So I just stated that I love my 3600 on the street.

convertor choice

My vote would be for a 2800 VIG as you hardly know it,s there when cruising normal but really makes diff.when you give her.

That's exactly my recommendation - there are going to be so many
opinions out here, it'll be difficult to make the right decision. I, too,
chose the Yank 2800 [a], but after talking to Dave, we determined the
best converter would be the SS3200. You really should call Dave and
let him know what you have now and what your future plans are.

If buying a Yank, no less than a SS3200.

IMO I would't go any less than a 3000.
Try to find some threads where people have a 3000ish converter and think it's too loose, not many. But on the other hand look how many people wish they went a little bigger.
SS3600 in my car with a internally stock motor and I love it. (stall wise anyway)
