Blackhawk Farms Raceway would be the closest. It's located between Rockton and S.Beloit. Midwestern Council will be holding eight AX events there this year(schedule is tentative).Their website is www.MCSCC.org. Don't know if SCCA does any AX events there.

Autocrosses are held at RT 66 raceway in Joliet regularly. Excelent surface and large lot. A few 3rd gear courses.

Also quite a few at MGA in WI I beleive. I will be going to most of the Chicago region events next season. Depending on your class expect to be spanked hard. There are some VERY VERY good drivers there.

Also check out TSSCC.COM

Having tried both SCCA and MC, I'd say if you can afford the $75 for a day on a real track, do the MC events. You get a lot more track time for your money than the parking lot events can give. Its also all 3rd and 4th gear on the real tracks, so you'll be really moving. They have a number of events at Blackhawk, and possibly one at Gingerman in 03. Try www.nsscc.com they have a free indoor class in March before the ontrack school. You need to sign up early (like January) if you want in that 1st ontrack school in april. Talk to Butch Jones. His number is on the NSSCC site, or if not, email me and I'll get it for you.

Sorry to hear that.

I've never seen them myself, but would guess that the insurance contracts would be why the 18 restriction. Madison Sports Car Club has parking lot events where 16 is ok. Not sure SCCA's limits.

I'm pretty sure that the SCCA permits licensed drivers under 18 with a signed waiver by a parent or guardian. Locally this year, a 17 year old was running a Mustang GT this way.

This could vary based on the local insurance policy.
