CAI + Lid Installed

I just finished installing the SLP Whisper Lid and the Fast Toys Ram Air kit a few hours ago (ughhh, what a grueling process). As soon as I got out on the street I punched it - holy **** what a throttle reponse; a big improvement. Not only did I get better throttle response, I could feel the low end torque kick in a little more, and a little bit more on the high end HP.

First time I've been able to break the tires loose from a rolling start going straight. A definite thumbs up to these mods!

I'm sure there will be guys showing a bunch of numbers here and there, but I still think it is more SOTP feeling than a significant difference in the actual hp numbers.

But I'm glad to hear you are happy! ;) That's the main thing! :D

hey kevinace, what was hard about the install? i just ordered mine a couple of minutes ago, that whisper lid and CAI package and i just wanted to know what i should look for. i did that free ram air mod so that piece above my radiator is already cut and the air box. so is that like the hardest part or is there something else. any help is appreciated.

Yea i could feel the difference too when my friend did them..

i just drove in his car yesterday after he put in the yank 2800 stall and OMG! the best mod that hes EVER done..it feels like something has been lifted off the car and made it that much better...think about that one day if u have an auto =)

good luck

This was my first mod I've done myself on any car, which probably made it a bit more difficult. There are some incredibly hard to reach fasteners (lower airbox deflector to the AC coil).

The first time I did it, for some reason the entire assembly fell about an inch short of where I needed it to be (this was because I had it set back towards the radiator, instead of more forward against the bumper; so the angle I took made it come up short). So I redrilled holes near the end, and hand tightened them down to bend the stainless steel (fun fun). Then once I was about to mount the top of the unit and put the air box on, things did not line up how I wanted them to. I realized my errors and everything ended up lining up perfectly.

I think the main problem was me doing my first mod, and doing it alone. I didn't have any help from anyone, which the directions say can come in handy.

Oh well, you live and learn.
