6" or 5.7" rod

i was wondering what the avantages/disadvantages of a 6" rod over the stock 5.7" rod. i would use it on the 383 i will be building it will be na or possibly have a power adder down the road thanks

Ahh, the endless rod length discussion. Cliff's Notes answer: It makes very little difference.

Clearance is a function of the stroke and the contour of the rod big end, not rod length. Think about it!

there is no power difference in a street motor but a longer rod changes the piston pin location and sometimes puts it in the oil ring kind of high. personal preference i like 5.7 in 383
