Does it start OK, or does it take an extended cranking period? Is the SES light on, or have you had it scanned for codes? Is the engine stock, or is it modified in any way? Trans type? Was the MSD a full Opti, or just the cap and rotor? Have you checked the coil and the IC Module? Have you checked the fuel pressure? 23tigga 02-05-2008, 06:33 PM Once it heats up it starts missing the engine is stock the msd is a whole unit the light comes on sometimes I changed the coil it an extended starting period help!!!!! mrmint69 02-05-2008, 11:28 PM Get it scanned for the codes and it will probably tell the whole story. 23tigga 02-09-2008, 03:55 AM Okay dudes its a lil better now but I think I need plugs its still not accelerating properly I bought a computer scanner but have no idea on how to count the flashes of the SES light what would be the best plugs to go with the msd opti and how do u know when the map sensor is gone? Injuneer 02-09-2008, 04:49 PM Okay dudes its a lil better now but I think I need plugs. Its still not accelerating properly. I bought a computer scanner but have no idea on how to count the flashes of the SES light. What would be the best plugs to go with the msd opti? And how do u know when the map sensor is gone? Ouch... add some punctuation :) :) :) You can not flash the codes on a 94 or newer PCM. If you bought the Actron "scanner" for about $30, all it does is short the ALDL pins, to flash the codes, and the last year that worked on an LT1 was 1993. The box says it works with 94, but it doesn't. You nead a "real" scanner, like an Auto Xray, Scanmaster, etc. What mods have been done to the engine? That will determine whether you can use the stock heat range plugs, or need something different. The spark plug choice is not dictated by the brand of distributor. A completely failed MAP sensor will sets a code and turn on the SES light. Simply reading the sensor with a scanner may show whether the readings make any sense. What makes you think the MAP sensor is a problem? Suggestion: Add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, tranny and any major mods. That way, people can do a better job of helping you. We know its a 94 LT1, but it would be helpful to know what else has been done to it. 23tigga 02-11-2008, 10:39 AM because i had a 92 camaro and when the map went out i was having some of the same troubles but i just dropped it off at the dealer to be scanned so hopefully i get some answers in to what is going on  it runs fine sometimes with a lil miss but saturday it started to rev while i was driving pulled over and it died pushed it home wouldnt start, after about ten minutes it started but there was a puff of white smoke that came from under the hood? what could have happened? i need answers cuz i am leaning to sell it but would like to keep it:confused: 23tigga 02-11-2008, 11:12 AM Just talked to the dealership they said that the codes are coming from the ignition module and temp sens does these cause this type of behavior 23tigga 02-12-2008, 03:20 PM Will not installing the air vent hose on the msd opti cause any problems and I placed a piece of cardboard behind my exhaust and started it up and I seen some black like carbon on it some1 fill me in stopthatman 02-12-2008, 04:47 PM besides checking everything again on your opti install, plugs, wires, i'd get a laptop, download TTS datamaster, get a free log of a run and send it to Bryan at pcmforless.com changing the MAP sensor is a 3 min job, i'd change it if it's 14 years old it's only $30, and get the replacement seal for it too 23tigga 02-18-2008, 10:29 AM I think i have found the problem. I unplugged the pigtail that connects to the ignition module and when I plugged it back up I noticed that one of the wires had been repaired so i wiggled on it and when i went to crank it it ran fine and hasn't been stalling when i crank it now. But i also noticed that the coil wire is a 7mm instead of an 8mm is this affecting my power? And can anyone give me a list of ways to increase my horses without going into the motor in depth 23tigga 03-05-2008, 02:30 PM Can u put delco wires on a msd opti 2000GTP 03-05-2008, 02:34 PM Can u put delco wires on a msd opti Yes, it will make no difference. 23tigga 03-05-2008, 03:50 PM So the delco wires are compatible with the msd opti Injuneer 03-05-2008, 05:56 PM As long as the Delco wires are the ones with the "Opti" ends intended for the LT1, and they plug into the MSD distributor, they are compatible. 23tigga 03-16-2008, 08:00 PM What is the correct idling rpm for a 94 lt1 2000GTP 03-16-2008, 08:14 PM With the engine fully warmed up, for an A4 transmissions, in neutral 650rpm and in drive 550 rpm. An M6 is 800rpm. 23tigga 03-16-2008, 10:24 PM Where is the fuel regulator located on this car year and can it be manually adjusted ak95ta 03-17-2008, 01:44 AM its on the back side of the drivers side fuel rail. If its the stock one, it can't be adjusted. 23tigga 03-17-2008, 08:54 AM so since it is stock i would have to change the whole thing out  or can it be adjusted with an computer? 2000GTP 03-17-2008, 09:03 AM Its controlled by vacuum, not by the computer. Why do you want to change it, is it bad? 23tigga 03-18-2008, 11:10 AM i believe so because my car is not burning enough fuel and i pulled my spark plugs out the other day and they have black sutt on them and the plugs aren't even two months old. a mechanic a chevy told me it may be my regulator going bad to start their first so thats why im asking about this specific part. 2000GTP 03-18-2008, 01:49 PM The way you are describing the plugs, it sounds like the car is running rich. As for the fuel pressure regulator, there is a vacuum line that goes to it. Pull it off and see if there is fuel in the line, if so, then the fuel pressure regulator needs replacement. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a fuel pressure test on it. 23tigga 03-18-2008, 02:19 PM what could be causing the car to be running rich. Im not familiar with this type of activity 23tigga 03-24-2008, 09:05 PM someone please help me locate the problem to why my car is running rich! please!!!! Injuneer 03-25-2008, 11:06 AM -faulty O2 sensors -faulty O2 sensor wiring -exhaust leaks before the O2 sensors -excessive misfires -excessive fuel pressure -leaking fuel injectors -leaking fuel pressure regulator Before you do anything, check your fuel pressure. Should be in the range of 41-47psi at idle, with the vacuum lined off the fuel pressure regulator. You started out asking about the fuel pressure, and the regulator. It was suggested that you check the vacuum line. Did you check it, and what did you find? Its very hard to help you if you don't follow up on suggestions. 23tigga 03-28-2008, 11:56 AM no i haven't checked it yet just got over a bad cold but as soon as i get home i will look for possible suggetions sorry for the delay in updates | ||
