megashine 02-01-2008, 04:24 PM Is there any big gathering around the Camaro plant the day the first one roll out from the factory? Like a countdown with a big celibration party, rockbands, hot-dog stands, bbq, baloons in the air and GM performance selling t-shirts telling "hey, itīs the hey days". Big crowds of enthusiast from all ower the world. Maybe F-body father has anything on this? I would love to be there, do the tour in the factory and see it all come together.

Why did you call out Scott on two different occasions and then ignore both of his replies, and now fire another shot?
The car is being built at Oshawa. Settle down.

That will ultimately be up to GM Canada... but I suspect there could perhaps be a number of individuals within the U.S. parent company who might be somewhat "influential" with respect to this decision... definitely an occasion to celebrate!!

Oh... and zrater... I'm callin' :bs:
... plant conversion started Nov.30. A couple of my buddies work at the plant... 'nuff said.
Perhaps you could be a bit more specific about what is still "undecided"? Your comment is somewhat ambiguous.
And.. I'd really be interested in knowing which "local" shop said that to you. Feel free to PM me with that name if you'd be more comfortable doing that. I'd like to give them a call.

Are U a ricer or mustang owner in incognito...here to sabotage our high hopes and optimism for a kick-ass car? OR, did someone just pee in your cornflakes?

The term overkill comes to mind here.

You're really turning into quite a troll, aren't you?

Yeah, I admit I was little bit carried away her, but non the less, -this is a historical moment. Just imagine this a few years back when there where no Camaros (no Challengers, Charger and no cool Mustangs for that sake) on the horizon. From my point of view, living in Sweden (Europa) the big three finaly use their proud herritage and build cool cars again. Thatīs grate and I hope they will continue on that path, not try to build European or Japanese kind of cars, but their own -American style. I was total blown away by the Camaro concept, better than I could ever hope for. In fact, Iīm a bit jealus at you living on the North American continent to be a part of all this, hell, I wanna be there too! Baseball, appelpie and Camaros, -the world need this:D And recpect to GM making this possible, so far they have made a exellent job that truly deservs a party (in any form) that day when the first one rolls out. :)

Camaro's production would have been suspended just over 8 years when production resumes.
Charger's was 20.
Shelby Mustangs had a 35 year hiatus (more if you're talking about ones from Shelby's own garage).
Challenger's would have been suspended over 33 years.
If I called anything historic, it probally wouldn't be Camaro's return.
CLEAN 02-02-2008, 02:49 PM I'd go

Nevertheless, having a gathering/F-body show and shine at the plant on the first real production day would be a fantastic idea. Tour, music and BBQ.
megashine 05-08-2008, 11:31 AM Any news about a party? As I understand, itīs "only" 135 days left..:)
ChrisL 05-08-2008, 07:00 PM Any news about a party? As I understand, itīs "only" 135 days left..:)
I'll be sure to table your thought next weekend, but until production cars are out for delivery, the plant will most likely be out... but maybe down the road... we'll see.
Chuck! 05-08-2008, 07:13 PM Only problem is that Oshawa in the winter probably isn't the most comfortable place. But its a cool idea none-the-less, maybe something in the summer.
Big Als Z 05-08-2008, 09:33 PM Bingo. You stole my thunder, but yes...Oshawa in Jan/Feb is gunna be one cold arse place to be. I like Camaro and everything....but Canada is Canada! Ill wait to see it in my local showroom.
Hylton 05-09-2008, 10:11 AM Aren't they starting production in October? Temperature is not that bad then unless you are a wuss. ;)
Only party there should be is when the first Z28 comes off of the line! That will be the car to truly party about heheh.

I've been pushing this idea since the announcement was made that Oshawa was going to be building the car. I've made my thoughts known to parties within GM on both sides of the border...
Best regardSS,
Elie
97z28/m6 05-11-2008, 11:44 AM i think a party would be a killer idea. hell if GM won't we could all just meet at the bar across the street and have our own.:D
megashine 05-11-2008, 06:06 PM I've been pushing this idea since the announcement was made...
Yeah, I would seriously consider a vacation in Canada to celebrate this. Maybe something for the Canadian tourist bureau. Flight from Stockholm, hotel with breakfast (i like scrambled eggs), tour at the plant, party at the bar across the street (if there is one, lol). Wow! And GM could label a beer for the event, a limited edition lager "The fifth element". :D
97z28/m6 05-11-2008, 06:20 PM party at the bar across the street (if there is one, lol).
http://www.parkplaceoshawa.ca/
:D i used to live down the street.
Capn Pete 05-12-2008, 10:31 AM We talked about doing something "fun" for the car's release in Oshawa a couple years ago in this thread (http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=462360) ;).
graham 05-12-2008, 12:17 PM If they'd built it in Bowling Green I would have been up for it lol!
