rear change

hello I would like to know if I can put a rear assembly from a 98 camaro into a 96 camaro. will it bolt right in ? thanks

^ Yeah... I don't see a problem with it... May have to do some brake alterations, but it'll slip right in ... THey're pretty much identical, except for the brakes.

Depends.... assuming you are talking about a complete rear axle assembly, from hub to hub.

You need to match the number of sensors (ABS and TCS) on the 98 rear axle assembly to the number of sensors on your 96. If both have ONLY ABS (3-channel system, with a single sensor on the top of the diff housing), or if both are ABS + TCS (4-channel system, with a sensor on each end of the axle housings) they will interchange. If they do not match, you will lose ABS/TCS.

Then there's the E-brake problem. The 98 rear brakes are different than the 93-97 rear brakes, including the way the E-brake is hooked up (at least on the 4-wheel disc cars). You need a 98 E-brake cable to make it work in your 97.

Might want to add a "signature" with basic info about your car, like the model, engine and tranny, since the brake systems vary between the V6 and V8 cars.
