i have a 95 firebird, not sure what kind of diff but it has springs and plates in there haha, and today i went to change the fluid in it and i found that my carrier is junk, the pin that holds the spider gears has sheared the bolt that holds it in place and it has ob longed the hole in the carrier by about 3/8 inch and the pin is "welded" to one of the spider gears, plus the slop in my pinion bearing is starting to wear on my teeth, so i figured its time to upgrade, but whats the best way to go here? i want it to be full posi but i dont know much about rear ends, my friend has one from an s-10 and he said its form a 7.625 10 bolt and he says its a clutch type posi, would this be a direct replacement for my car? if that one wont work, what kind should i look for and from what manufacturer? im just scared that this one wont work because of the gear for the abs thats mounted behind my ring gear, anyone help please?

Sounds like it'll work, the ring for your abs isnt mounted behind your ring gear, its actually on the posi unit and if you take an acetylene torch and heat it up it will fall right off, put it on the new one the same way. Not poisitve on the Diff working but it sounds right.

Probably should have a moderator move this to drivetrain, might get more help there.

the posi unit in the rear end of my 97 sonoma is out of a 4th gen f-body, works just fine too.:D

I would imagine that you should be able to do the reverse, rear chunk from an S series and put in the f-bod rear end.
