Why does this car make me so mad?

Why?

Every time I see a spy shot, I just get more and more annoyed! Why?

The exterior shots do nothing but put a smile on my face..... but when I see the interior... I just get so annoyed and mad at the route they decided to go with the interior.

I wasn't even planning on buying one in the first place, but I still get pissed off.

Anyone else share my sentiments?

No sorry man, the IP is "odd" at least in the pictures released so far, but it is not a deal breaker, anymore than a place holder torque gauge(based on my guess that a boost gauge will go there in the top model) in the V6 model is. Before I make any decision, I will need to take her out and see how it feels to drive. For what it is worth, the Challenger and the Camaro are figting for my 40K + for a fully loaded, boulevard bruiser.

You are either going to like the car or you are not... If not... then just don't buy it. Plain and simple. I'm sick and tired of seeing everyone bitch and moan... you aren't the designer... you aren't the planner. You are one of a numerous potential buyers that GM has to "try" and please. You don't like it... for that I'm sorry... I personally feel the design is awesome. The more I see the more I fall in love with it.

It just gets old having people whine about something that is not finished and you haven't seen in person.

i dont love the interior.. but i dont know how you can be surprised at the design? they were pretty faithful to the concept's interior design.. and they have said that the car will look like the concept

i dont hate the interior either.. i like that it's different.. i like the speedo/tach, i like the steering wheel... the main thing i dont like is the center console (hvac/radio) and how it bulges out like it does.. but its not that big a deal to me

Thank God that Al Gore invented the internet well AFTER the 1st Gen came out. Imagine all the bitching a moaning that would have taken place if people had access to spy pics of the development of the very first Camaro. And a place to gripe about it.

People still bought the car like it was CRACK. People are too critical. I've learned to stop griping and wait until I see/buy the Camaro in person. I have faith that GM will serve us well with a car we will all be as proud to own as any previous Camaro.

I've been an enthusiast of other things in the past, and what I found was that everyone quickly ran out of useful things to say, positive or negative. The negative rises to the top because it's just easier to manufacture, and much easier to stir debate. It's the quandary of online communities: passion -> overexposure -> boredom -> negativity.

You're not, its just most people dont want to jump into the b!tchfest over something that isnt even completed yet.

Its really simple:

-Make your points about what you like and don't like without acting like a 3rd grader about it

-If you're interested in the car, go see the production model at the auto show or dealership

-If you like it and can afford it buy it. If not, buy something else! Its a free market, you're not confined to having to buy this car!

And I agree with others, this horse has rotted into the ground a long time ago...:death: :death: :death:

Some people, rightfully so, take it personally when they express a valid concern, out of care, and are told they must not want the car.

Of course I'm also aware that valid or not, most of those ships have already sailed, and either side going on about it at this point is academic. Which is why on the interior, which is the first thing that have had a real and lasting problem with it, I said I don't like it, I explained why in great detail, and then I left it alone.

I'm just concerned as to what the price will be.. That's it..

The leaked interior pics just hammered it for me.. I LOVE the door panels!!!! I don't know why, I just do! The rest of the interior is SO much better than the concept. I think the Design team did a great job at cleaning it up.

Keep up the good work Scott/GM! :thumb: Ive been an F-Body FANATIC for a long time, and I doubt my passion will die. I'm holding off on the Corvette for a New Camaro. -Paying my bills off this year to make room.. :D

+1 Bayer........I heard your last couple of call-ins to the podcast too. I can't find anything that I don't like about the car. I too am looking forward to hearing the pricing information. The interior is looking better and better to me. The gauges are just like what I see in my 68. And I haven't ran off the road once while looking over to check oil pressure, volts, fuel and temp. I'm cutting debt every payday and preparing my garage for it's new arrival like a proud parent does a new child. This is the gonna be the best year in a long time for Camaro fans. I just wish everyone would take a breath and be happy with that. I know it's getting old to me, so it's gotta be getting old to Scott. I see his posts like most of you on at least 4 other boards.......Great work Scott and the rest of the Camaro team that reads this posts and posts their own comments.

Patiently and eagerly waiting for September in Indy.

I too have very few problems with the inside. You know, often I wonder if - despite the Mustang, and the Challenger being out first - this car will be the 'spark' that the performance car segment needs to really kick off...it's easily the most broadly appealing car - just thinking aloud I guess.......

Instead of disagreeing by expressing the reasons for liking the interior, all I have seen are the "if you don't like it then don't buy it" responses. I'm sure everyone is quite capable of making that decision for themselves. It seems hypocritical to flame on someone just because they have a remotely negative opinion about the new Camaro. So what? Are they not allowed to post their opinions anymore? Are they not allowed a meaningful response?

As for beating a dead horse we must not forget that there are THOUSANDS of members who are a part of this website and a great majority of them do not frequent here on a daily basis. And with the stream of new information coming in slowing down to a trickle there are things that are going to be rehashed several times over.

With that being said I really dislike the interior. It's not for the fit and finish or the quality of the materials but the general design of the interior itself. Just like many people on this board I was hoping that their would be more changes made to the interior after the somewhat cold reception it recieved when the concept first came out. To me the interior of the car is much more important than the exterior. This is where I will spend almost all of my time with the car. And since it has not changed I have drastically changed my plans for this car. I really don't think that I could own this car as a daily driver or weekend cruiser. Will this keep me from buying a Camaro though? Probably not. More than likely if I am still in a position to buy a Camaro I will wait and purchase a no option top model and turn it into a purpose built track car. Essentially I will do what all of us do, and that is to modify it to my liking.

I can certainly respect that people are sharing opinions in that perhaps they can motivate change. While a lot of things are locked in I'm sure, I can't blame anyone for holding out hope that they can still motivate change. And for those who don't like the theme and/or details of the interior, I can't blame them for reiterating their opinions.

I like the overall theme, but I certainly do not like the font on the speedo and tach (and that seems an easy change, so here I am hoping they do so!). Like others have said, the heating and cooling controls look a little too much like a play station controller. Seems changeable at this point in time. And I hope that they are planning for nav, but haven't seen anything to indicate this.

I also tend to think that the way the center stack does bulge out, it really changes the appearance from the concept. The concept interior looked sleek cause of the smooth surface from left to right. To me, this is the single thing that spoils the lines of the dash the most

You're either going to buy the car or not, like the car or not.

Continuing to complain about the interior at this point is exactly like beating a dead horse.

The car is headed for the assembly line in 11 months or less. They aren't going to change the interior. This subject has no fewer than 3 threads devoted to it. If you still have issues with it, start a thread about the 6th gen Camaro likely due the middle of next decade.

Let it go already.

Not sure what you are getting at. I like the way the car looks. Have things changed from the concept?.. yes. Am I comparing to the concept? No. I am not comparing the car to a 60s model or any other model. I am looking at it as a brand new car and I like how it's unfolding.

Yes but if I am to follow your logic, you don't see a difference between for example, the exterior of a 1997 Camaro and a 1998 Camaro. They both have different headlights so they look different but are still essentially the same car.

It's not about comparing the car to anything. It's about liking one feature more than another. Some people like white cars, some like black cars. Some like the old grill on the concept, some like the new grill on the recent car.

I find it odd when someone's taste is not swayed one way or the other when a design change is made.
