How many people have put deposits down..

.. and for how much?

i put a deposit down for $500

I haven't put down any money because I'd rather I get the interest off of my money than the stealership, and I'd rather get exactly what I want than have one off of allocation.

so i lose a few bucks off interest and im going to get what i want in the car i am number 4 on deposits at my dealer so gm will contact my chevy deal and say give me an order then my dealer would contact deposit number 1 and number 1 would give the dealer his options then it would be so on and so forth

Doesn't always work that way... GM may just build fully loaded cars at first, or not open up all options, colors, whatever. There's a myriad of combinations/factors that can come into play.

Whatever you do, don't pay over MSRP, please!

I'm #4 at one dealer with a $500 deposit, and #65 at another with a $1000 deposit. Both are for convertibles, and guaranteed at MSRP. I did two deposits because nobody could give me and answer as to whether I would be able to order however I wanted it or not. I did'nt want to pass up one car because I did'nt like the interior color or whatever and then be told I was going to the bottom of the list if I passed it up...and the dealer I am #4 at does not really have the greatest reputation for customer service so I anticipate some type of problem before I have my car. Who cares about the $120 in interest it would've made in the bank ($80 after you pay income taxes on it) anyhow??????

Both deposits are fully refundable, thereby leaving a car to be purchased at whatever rediculous ADM the dealer will be charging someone who could'nt part with a deposit in January of 2007.

the dealer i put my deposit at my family has been dealing with him for 22 years so he will give me at MSRP and my deposit could be used for another car or be refunded as well so its not like im loosing out on anything

ramping up new production, you bet it could.... but you've got the right attitude. It's your hard earned money. Make sure you get exactly what you want.... and dont pay over MSRP.

like i said before ive been my family has been with this dealer for 22 years he when i put my deposit down he told me hes gonna give it to me for MSRP but he said he is pretty sure that GM wont have any rebates for it and are probably not gonna let us use are GM points

dealers dont put in orders anymore. they put in "requests" for vehicles and its up to GM to send it or not. the largest dealerships usually have first dibs. they usually build the cars in bunches, so the first two months supply may white and red with leather interiors. then the next months might see two other colors but in auto only. etc etc. its tough to get a very specific car sometimes.
