Surprising how many Cobra owners will sell their Ford for one.

But I had said I was surprised at all of the positive comments!

I own a couple 'yota's too so I posted the pics @ ToyotaNation.com and it got positive comments over there too!

Of course, there was also the "usual" everything GM makes is crap comments....

My thoughts exactly.I had to stop reading this section of the message board for a while because of all the whining!

seems to be a lot of positive over there but its definitely comical to see people commenting on weight, interior etc... all based on pre-production info. Also a lot of comments about being sick of retro.... also funny considering how ford and chrysler are both complete knock off's of older versions of their cars whereas camaro is a new age interpretation of an old car. not really the same thing.

-The new Camaro is the same thing as the new Mustang and Challenger. --It's retro and modern just like the new Mustang and Challenger.
-The 4th Gen. is Modern plain and simple
-The New Edge Mustangs and SN95's are Modern
-The 5th Gen. Camaro, New Mustang and Challenger are all clearly Retro.

Makes sense to give the Boomers something they can truly relate to, at a point in their life that they can go out and buy one no problem, since they might not of had the chance back in 1967-69.
GM is following Ford's lead and so is Chrysler.
Retro styling at this point in time in automotive history=Healthy PROFITS.

In 30 years if the Camaro is still with us along with the Mustang, GM and Ford will do the same thing for Gen. X, make a retro modern version of the 4th Gens. and SN95's.

WOW Im pretty suprised by the responses. I figured they would bash it just because it was a camaro! Some did but the majority really like it! AND they didnt need Scott over there telling them to calm down its a pre production picture! This is one impressed chevy guy, maybe stang guys arent all bad!

all three are retro and have some modern influences, true

but they do not share the same ratio of retro to modern

retro---------challenger--------mustang---------camaro--------modern

From my perspective as a former Mustang owner :uhoh:, let's just say that perhaps a lot of those people over there are just a bit late in developing their appreciation of fine cars...;) I know this happened to me!
I bought a new Mustang GT ragtop in '85 and kept it for 10 years... and sold it because I realized that the fillings in my teeth were beginning to loosen after driving that car for so long! :eek:
... bought a '94 SHO and enjoyed it for a good few years... until GM put the LS1 in the Camaro. After 1 test drive, I was hooked and that was it for me. Dumped the SHO PDQ and I've never looked back since...
Don't think for a second that GM isn't looking at a whole bunch of conquest sales from other marques - especially current Mustang owners who still want to drive an American sports coupe - V6 or V8 and whose leases are coming up.
After assessing the appeal of the 5th Gen car, ya gotta be pretty narrow-minded (or just plain stubborn) to not seriously consider getting one!
As a former Mustang owner, I can tell you... I've been there, gone through this process. The LS1 4th Gen made it a total no-brainer for me.
Just glad to see the scenario repeating itself 10 years later... better late than never!!:D

I browse quite a few boards (I am an equal-opportunity car guy) and this car gets a lot of surprisingly favorable comments. Sure you have the narrow minded "Camaro = mullet" idiots around, but across the board it is quite good.

Hmmmm.... the majority of people who really liked the F5 either had GM products as avatars or didn't list owning a Mustang in their sig. Would have to say they were really closet GM guys.

Not true there was plenty of mustang owners saying they were thinking of selling there, gt's, cobras, and lightings to make room for the camaro. and It was the huge majority that said it looked WAY better than the mustang:)

Just would like to say that orange Camaro with the Z/28 badge is the best look I have seen.

I guess they aren't as brand loyal as I painted them to be.

Ahaha...I find it funny on Mustang boards they applaud it, but on GM bords its said that its overexposed and old.

While growing up, our family all drove Ford's, thus my liking to Mustangs. Quite interestingly though, when I was in college, our whole family owned and really loved our Chevrolet's, great power, fuel economy and resale value. Anyways, I have owned 3 camaors, before I first acquired my current 03 KB Cobra. I have really enjoyed this car, it's scary fast, but I'm going to sell it in the near future to make place for the new camaro. I'm sure the new one will be faster than my 98SS, but won't probably hold a candle to the Cobra. Everything about the new camaro just entices me, it's a home run anyway I look at it.

Mustang Posuers, they need to pack thier fake asses and go! I'll have to skim through those threads again and take a closer look as well as gather some imperical data to see how much of a majority. If what your saying is true.
