New Pics:
I need to aim them up a bit but I will do this when I am on a flat surface since where I was at was a bit slanted and sloping downward.

Projectors ran me around $100 w/o lamps. I will post how much everything cost in the full-write up to keep all the info in one place. I will have it done at Sunday the latest.

Violat0rX 01-21-2008, 12:57 PM Nice! I did a retro with the FX projectors in my GTO a few months ago. The light output is awesome. I can't want to see pics of these on the bird.
BlackbirdWS6 01-21-2008, 10:09 PM TTT completed!

ssbowtie1 02-21-2008, 10:34 AM Great stuff. Now I just need to decide on committing to this or trying to fab a "sleepy eyes" setup.
BlackbirdWS6 02-21-2008, 03:05 PM The sleepy eye setup does look great but I haven't read much on how to do it. My initial impression is that my setup was much easier but then again, I do not have that much knowledge of how to do it.
I think a sleep eye would look better than what I have accomplished but I'm very happy with what I have produced. Additionally, the projectors still need a proper shroud and protection from the elements which is why I feel there is much less work in the way I did it.

What color temp are those? Looks like 3500K to me.

I think that your setup is without a doubt much easier, mainly because its documented and tested by you. Also the parts are plug and play (loosely speaking). The thing is if I went this route, I wouldn't want to spend any more money on trying anything else like sleepy eyes. I'll probably end up going your route though, since at the end of the day, visibility is the most important end result.

They are actually 4300 Philips 85122+ D2S lamps. They appear a bit yellower due to the camera exposure and such. The camera does not take good night pics at all. Here is a pic without the flash to show more of the intensity. They really light up the road well.

Looks very nice, might have to try this out down the road.
Johnnynsac 02-29-2008, 01:09 AM You should start making them and then sell them. ;)

I've seen those before but I saw no need to spend over $1200 on the retrofit. Mine was done with less than half of that with everything.
Also, check the depth of those. If I recall, they go too far deep and will not work properly with the pop up action. edit: just clicked your sig link.
If you decide to get them, get them installed and some pics. I've never seen any output shots of those.

Sinister/Rocinrol 03-02-2008, 12:58 AM I have seen then on another 3rd gen and this is what it looks like...They do look pretty good on there...:D

BlackbirdWS6 03-02-2008, 01:11 AM Like I said, extremely pricey for what you get. Do they come with OEM HID components (Philips/Osram/Sylvania HID lamps) or Hella/Matsu****a/Etc. ballasts? I bet they look good, but looking good and lighting output are two different things. Again, would love to see output pics compared with other projectors.

Yes they do come with the ballasts and about the bulbs they do come with the package but I don't know which ones...I'll have to call them and find out!
