Has anyone ever recovered the leather/vinyl/whatever it is part of the steering wheel? Mine is all cracked and split and it looks horrible. I don't feel like shelling out a few hundred bucks for a new wheel and I had one upholstery guy tell me that it could not be done. I think he just didn't want to do it because I have since been told that it could be done.

I would like to redo it in maybe a little softer type of leather and maybe a different color. If anyone has done this please let me know and how about some pictures. I am not talking about justa cover either, I mean tearing off the old leather and replacing with new stuff.

Itd Probably be Cheaper to end up buying a used wheel thats in decent shape then get done what you want, Sorry for not helping but just look at the price real leather seat covers go for

It sounds to me like the upholstery guy you talked to is just an amateur. This isn't some incredibly difficult request, cars have this redone all the time. I think you just need to ask some other upholstery shop.
