Z284ever 01-14-2008, 11:48 PM I'm certainly no expert, in fact I've never done this before. But I removed alittle bulk from the Camaro's nose with a simple paint program.
I think it looks better. In fact, I think it looks WAY better. Just me though.
This one with debulked lower fascia and hood:

Good Ph.D 01-15-2008, 12:04 AM Which is which?
You cut of some of the lower fascia and smothed out the hoodscoop?

Yes. The bottom of the front fascia is trimmed and the scoop is smoothed out.
The first one is debulked one.
90rocz 01-15-2008, 12:30 AM I duuunnooo...I think the cowl looks better.
I think different paint/light, really de-bulks it enough for me.
91Z28350 01-15-2008, 01:31 AM Sorry Charlie, like the pre-pro better. But for the record, I never met a Camaro that, IMO, did not look better with a cowl induction hood (functioning or not).

Another thread Ill laugh about once we see the car in person. Everyone is talking about all this "bulk" and havent even see the car in person! keep it the way it is and for God sake how the hell can you cut out the cowl hood on a pony car!?!?!?
Z284ever 01-15-2008, 09:32 AM Okay, debulked nose with cowl hood:

Actually, once the lower fascia is debulked, I think I like it better with the cowl hood too.
Tricked-Out-Toy 01-15-2008, 09:54 AM Another thing, your looking at the picture from an angle, where you cut the front bumper would look stupid from a side shot since now the lower part of the bumper is higher than the side skirts.........

Yeah, I know. But try and use your imagination and pretend that it wouldn't. I don't know, the original just looks like it's got a big hemmorhoid or labia hanging from it.
Maybe it's just the angle, but hey what the heck, this is the angle GM chose for us.
jg95z28 01-15-2008, 10:51 AM I have to agree with tricked-out-toy. Its the low level camera angle that makes it look bulky. Charlie is there anything you actually like about this Camaro.

At the risk of encouraging you to brow beat me - yes some things. And I'll spare you the rolling eyes.

Two-tone!! That's my suggestion to your thickness gripe with the bulk perception:)
A lot of new cars nowadays look thicker as the manufacturers are pulling the body down lower. Makes the car look heavier. I think it helps with the aerodynamics. It's evident on their full size trucks as well, if you put any of the current GMT900s wheels on it's predecessors (88-06) you can see how huge the tire/wheels look on the older models as oppose to it being on the new truck.
90rocz 01-15-2008, 07:32 PM Maybe they could just paint the front valance similar to the rear, to visually "debulk" it for those who want it that way?:)

OK, I don't agree with you, but that sh*t is funny!
cmg06s 01-15-2008, 09:50 PM looks fine how it came to me.

Amen. Car looks fine without us trying to tweak it.
Fenster 01-16-2008, 08:28 AM The car has to have the little cowl hood IMO. Looks fantastic with!!!
TrickStang37 01-16-2008, 03:16 PM we'll see if its a functioning cowl hood with an opening in the back. otherwise it may be as useless/gimmicky as the Mustang GT's hood scoop.

I don't think it'll be open in back. I think that slit on the front fascia is the intended opening.

I liked the first gens Cowl alot first time I saw it. That was well before I had any idea there was any function. If the slit isnt functional Id rather have it smoothe. The cowl on the other hand I like functional or not. Just me...

 Not just aerodynamic drag, but front end lift too.
I suspect it helps with wind noise as well.
EllwynX 01-18-2008, 08:49 PM I prefer it as is. Seeing as how I'm one of the few that actually want GFX, I want mine to look even 'bulkier'. LOL
Interceptor1 02-18-2008, 10:21 PM I think the cowl induction hood is OK, what is ugly as hell is the grille... maybe if it were changed to some round hole mesh or something to make it vanish a bit would be better. Also it looks a bit weird because in plan view is more pointed and set at a different angle than the bumper contour. Hate to say it but in the front end battle, Camaro 0, Challenger 1.
mpilarZ281992 02-19-2008, 02:08 PM Lets be careful, the more we debulk the more it looks like a impala.
