Is it barely noticable or is it like an I4 where it barely runs? I have no idea, please clue me.

thanks

Kind of answered my own question with this...

the car was probably missing because I think I can already see a big increase in MPG, like I'm back up to 25 from 20.

I guess if I wanted to be sure I could just pull a plug wire and find out what a miss feels like.

when i had a misfire it was noticeable and you could feel it in idle and where u were driving

okay, mine was idling a little rough too, I think it still does. But how noticable was it? Was it anything like an I4 which barely runs? I don't really pay attention to small things everyday, how noticable would it be?

when i was driving it wasn't too noticeable but i could definitely tell it had lost power at higher RPMs. idling was really rough though i thought my motor mounts were about to go out it was so bad but the mounts were rock solid. later found my 5 cylinder was missing really bad and sometimes the 6 was

my 97 3.8 did this. plug a scanner into it and it can detect which cylinder is missing. mine deteced a miss in a 6th cylinder. It stumbled under a load, didn't miss to bad idling though but had a hard time accelerating, turned out in a spot on my plug wire it got very brittle and had white residue on it.

I recall the check engine light would flash when it was really missing.

yea you're right it flashes when it misses too bad. otherwise it just stays on if it's not missing as bad. I had the same thing. i still need a new EGR valve and at that point i'll see if my problem is solved. if not i'll say screw it and drop a new 6 in

Alright, I've confirmed it, The car is now back up to 24 mpg.

Damn, they say these cars can go 100,000 miles without a tune-up so I wasn't concerned at all about the wires. what a load of bull. and it was barely noticable.

I'm going to put heat shielding on the wires so this doesn't happen after another 40,000 miles.

Let this be a lesson to everyone, this should be the first thing you replace. Plugs & wires!!

!!

Thats what I did.

When mine went, it was very noticeable! No power, poping, no acceleration, almost died on a hill, SES light was flashing.

Happed to me 2x, and even before I sold It It was starting to act up again on the really hot days (hesitate).
