any disadvantage with a exhaust vacuum crank case vent?

ok ive been doin some research and i have a bullet muffler so i dont have much back pressure. could i use my exhaust as a vacuum and run this via a T into both valve covers with a filter of some type to catch the oil, and maybe a one way valve just to be safe? would there be any disadvantages?

That type of a system will work fine to evacuate any blow-by in the crankcase. If the motor is creating a small amount, you won't have much to worry about, but if the motor is pushing a lot of oil, that type of evac. system can cause the O2 sensors to become fouled. A catch can in series with the evac. system that can seperate the oil would be a good addition.

yes, i and several others are running this type. i have the mr. gasket kit. i placed the bungs a little farther down in the y-pipe to make sure i was clear of the o2's. i think maybe it has a little weaker vac. here but it still pulls vac. at idle so overall i believe it works pretty well.

yes, a few inches past them should be fine. i had to go a little farther because i have wideband o2's mounted after the factory o2's.

There are a bunch of threads regarding EVAC systems that have had posts in the past week, even one referencing just this. Look them up. I don't think it's the best setup for most street cars.
