I know the C5 brake calipers require a minimum of a 17'' wheel but I have heard that some 17'' wheels will not work. I have 17x9.5 Torq Thrust II's, will they work?
Also, will C6 calipers fit or do you have to have 18'' wheels? I believe I saw somewhere that C6 calipers need an 18'' wheel.

The TTII's will typically not clear the C5 kits without a spacer. I've heard reports from customers that you'll need 1/4" or more of spacer to get those wheels to clear.
As for the C6 calipers, the base C6 parts are just upgraded versions of the C5 parts. The C6 Z51 and C6 Z06 will require larger wheels due to the larger rotors (13.6" and 14"). The specific C6 parts you wish to use will be important in making that decision.
Let me know if I can be of any more assistance. I'm glad to help.

Would a TTII with a 1/4'' more of backspacing work just as well as one with a spacer?

At that point, it's going to depend how the wheel is made. If it's built with the same internal shape as a wheel with a spacer, then there is a good chance it could work. However, I've never seen anyone put a template on such a wheel and actually test fit it.
Sorry I can't be more help.
