So is GM going to offer a hybrid Hummer?

Seems to me it could be a 2 door H2 hybrid from the pics. In the studio shot they have both H2 and a 4 door Colorado Z71 on the wall.

Notice the H3T sketch on the left wall also.

I'd love to see this Hx come with a 4cyl. Diesel with 300ft.-lbs. of torque

There will be no "true" hybrid from HUMMER. True being mild hybrid, etc.

The only type of hybrid that will be available from HUMMER, at all is going to be an E-85 capable HUMMER.

That isn't a hybrid. Every car can run at least 20-30% Ethanol. Some stations only sell E10

H2 is getting the 4.5L Diesel though.

Why not? Seems to me offering a hybrid Hummer could help sway some of the negitive image the brand has, and increase towing capacity of course.

It's not what the HUMMER brand stands for.

Have you ever seen a hybrid Jeep? You may see a diesel Jeep or an E-85 Jeep but you'll never see a full hybrid Jeep.

Well wait, now that Cerberus has taken over, we may see one, and it would bastardize the brand.

HUMMER will never see a "true" hybrid. It's E-85 and diesel, and that's it. It's a true off road brand.

It might just be more, and the whitish looking top, but this reminds me an FJ Crusier. Much nicer, but that is what it reminds me of.

Are you serious? Are you really using the H2/H3 and "true offroad" in the same sentence?? The H2 is nothing more than a suburban soccer mom's wet dream. It' an over-glorified Tahoe.

Talk to an off-road enthusiast and if you mention an H2, they'd probably punch you in the face.

Whatever Hummer stood for was lost the minute they released the H2.

That's a great concept vehicle. It out-macho's the FJ and a lot of Jeeps on the road today. It will fill a hole in the Hummer lineup if produced. That thing just looks MEAN - like it wants to run up over the hood of a Civic

You're joking, right?

The H2 has more offroad capability than a lot of the offroad wannabes out there today. You should get out more and see what they can do...

Maybe it will widen your horizons some :)

So then what do they like? H3? I've heard that is better off road than the H2. ..and of course they like the Wrangler

I would love for GM to add hybrids to Hummers all around.... get REAL good mileage like the new GM SUV hybrids and slap the Prius humping fan boys right in the face. But that is just a dream... cool looking hummer concept. :)

A diesel would offer the same mileage and be a better option for off roading.

Hummer should almost be a diesel only brand. Go to Chevy or GMC for a gasoline SUV.

H1.

What is your point? The H2 is a very capable off road vehicle. Sorry if you do not believe so, or those people that would punch me in the face if I said it was a very capable off road vehicle.

We can compare cute pictures all day.

I would never bet my life on the soundness of an H2.

IIRC, on paper, the H2 has more offroad capabillity than the H1...

Again it's an image thing, whatever they can do is irrelevant because most out there are in music videos or at the mall.

It's not what the HUMMER brand stands for.

So, vastly improved low-end power - as would be provided by the two-mode system - isn't what the Hummer brand stands for? Hummer just stands for using big motors and deep gearing, with the resultant horrible fuel economy just so that the vast majority of owners can brag about off-road performance that they'll never access?

I just want someone to show me that Hummer has made a profit. I'm not talking about gross margin on each vehicle - I want to see the numbers including development, marketing, dealer support, the CAFE penalty, etc. We can go a bit deeper and talk about the opportunity cost of sinking the investment into Hummer instead of bringing advanced powertrain technology to the market a few years earlier; that'd be a fun discussion.
