Convertible T/A, Weight? AutoX?

I ahve been sort of shopping around for a LS1 car. I wasn't looking for a vert, but I found a screaming deal on one. I plan to autoX and occasional do a track day. My ultimate goal is a 12.50-13.0 sec street car that can be competitive at AutoX as well. I know convertibles are slightly overweight, but does anyone know by how much? What kind of #'s have been seen, as compared to a hardtop/T-Top. :cool:

BTW, the car I found is a 1998 T/A WS6 with a M6 and 13K miles. The guy wants 16995!!!! That's about 4500 below book. It's black too!!!

What are some opinions please!!!

If that's what you want, snatch it! I autox my SS. I really think the top down function is nice when I race it. And they already have a lot of bracing to stiffen them up. SFCs still wouldn't hurt. But that would bump me out of stock class. I also think that the top being down might transfer weight back toward the rear of the car helping with balance. I've never put it on scales to see. I'm not that anal. You might need a cage to run it at a track day type event. I've never done that. So I don't know. As far as 1/4 mile times, with the factory F1 tires I've run 13.5 @ 106 stock with a K&N on a crappy track.

All in all, I don't think the convertible is as much of a handicap as people say it is. The extra headroom makes up for any tenth of a second disadvantage it has. :D
