2009 Dodge Ram unmasked....?mastrdrver 12-09-2007, 01:51 AM Again, without comment (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/09/is-this-the-2009-dodge-ram/) wulfen33 12-09-2007, 02:52 AM I like that much better than the current model. The current truck has always looked kind of bloated/ awkward to me (kind of like the 2nd gen Durango). 91Z28350 12-09-2007, 03:52 AM Nice Looking Truck! If they tame the Hemi's thirst, might make a nice replacement fo the Durango (gotta have something to haul the boat;) ) R377 12-09-2007, 10:12 AM Definitely a more mature and less cartoonish design. I'd heard other publications say it's more feminine, but I suppose that's only because the current model is trying way too hard to look tough. gtman316 12-09-2007, 10:56 AM Looks a bit awkward. Z28x 12-09-2007, 12:39 PM I thought the 2009 was going to get a more Rampage look? I'll reserve judgment until I see it in person or better photos Eric Bryant 12-09-2007, 01:29 PM Looks better than the current (third-gen) truck, but it's still a far cry from the perfection that was the '94-'02 (second-gen) Ram. CaminoLS6 12-09-2007, 01:30 PM Much, much better looking. Silverado C-10 12-09-2007, 02:34 PM I really like it! BUT.... put your hand over the grill.... it SCREAMS last gen Tundra mixed with a little F-150. mastrdrver 12-09-2007, 03:44 PM I really like it! BUT.... put your hand over the grill.... it SCREAMS last gen Tundra mixed with a little F-150. It interesting you mention the Tundra since a lot of people, mostly on the Dodge boards, though the new Tundra took a lot from the current Ram. 90rocz 12-09-2007, 04:21 PM Much better, tho the 2-tone color reminds me of older Fords.:tired: mastrdrver 12-09-2007, 04:24 PM I thought the 2009 was going to get a more Rampage look? HuJass 12-09-2007, 07:47 PM I think that's the real deal. ;) And I, for one, like it. It's way more classy than the current Ram. Much more refined. 96_Camaro_B4C 12-09-2007, 10:07 PM Looks better than the current (third-gen) truck, but it's still a far cry from the perfection that was the '94-'02 (second-gen) Ram. I like the current gen ram, a LOT. Even more than the '04-'01 version. Even after all these years, I still rank it near the top of the full sizers, right next to the '07+ Sierra. :p This new one looks handsome, too. Of note to me, it looks like a proper crew cab to go against the other half ton crews, based on that pic... Currently, you get either their quad cab, with baby sized front hinged rear doors and maybe a bit more space than others' extended cabs (with a 6'3" bed instead of the industry norm 6'6" bed), OR you get the ginormous MegaCab, which sits on the same wheelbase as the quad cab LONG bed. 99SilverSS 12-09-2007, 11:01 PM A more grown up and refined Ram for sure. Dodge just needs to back up the looks with quality and craftmanship that past Rams havent had. mastrdrver 12-09-2007, 11:12 PM Of note to me, it looks like a proper crew cab to go against the other half ton crews, based on that pic... The current 1500 MegaCab is built of the 3/4 frame. No word whether it will stay around for the 3/4 and 1 tons. mastrdrver 12-09-2007, 11:13 PM Apparently, its the real deal (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/12/09/confirmed-2009-dodge-ram-pic-is-the-real-thing/) Eric Bryant 12-10-2007, 06:18 PM  I like the current gen ram, a LOT. Even more than the '04-'01 version. Even after all these years, I still rank it near the top of the full sizers, right next to the '07+ Sierra. :p This new one looks handsome, too. I just think that the '02-current design looks like a cartoonish version of the previous-gen Ram. It's like it tries too hard to be bigger and badder than the Super Duty. That's just one man's opinion, though. The more I see of the 2007+ Sierra, the more I think it's the best-looking truck on the road :thumb: Currently, you get either their quad cab, with baby sized front hinged rear doors and maybe a bit more space than others' extended cabs (with a 6'3" bed instead of the industry norm 6'6" bed), OR you get the ginormous MegaCab, which sits on the same wheelbase as the quad cab LONG bed. I do not get Dodge's current cab offerings, and the MegaCab doesn't appear to be screaming off the lots. Considering that both GM and Ford sell quite a few "conventional" crew-cab trucks, I think that Dodge would indeed be wise to bring their line-up into congruence with the other manufacturers. guionM 12-10-2007, 06:42 PM Next to the new Silverado and the new Ford F-series or even previous Dodge Rams, the new Dodge Ram looks fantastic! Not only does it look more matrure, for once it has a grille that isn't designed to overwhelm everything else about the exterior design. And the rest of the exterior (finally) seems like someone remembered to as much time designing it as they did the grille. The whole thing just looks right. http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/12/09ram_450.jpg It seems enough people have thrown the "It looks like a Tundra" complaint around so much it's lost it's effect and seems like nothing more than a cliche. Some said it about the new GMC truck's nose, some said it about the body of the Silverado, some said it about the new F series pickup, and now, yet again, it's being thrown at another new truck, the Dodge Ram. To me the new Ram looks like a few Ford designers had a hand in it, but I don't have enough Toyotaitis of the brain that I see Toyota in every new truck design that shows up. Maybe a natural immunity to this disease, perhaps?? mastrdrver 12-10-2007, 07:29 PM I do not get Dodge's current cab offerings, and the MegaCab doesn't appear to be screaming off the lots. They aren't doing anything different than what Toyota has done with the Tundra cabs. The problem with the Ram MegaCab is that the truck is something like a foot LONGER than everyone else's extended cab in the industry and apparent I have heard they don't fit into garages very well. georgejetson 12-10-2007, 09:00 PM It seems enough people have thrown the "It looks like a Tundra" complaint around so much it's lost it's effect and seems like nothing more than a cliche. I think the Tundra looks like a (watered-down) Ram. Not the other way around. | ||
