HELP... Cannot Remove ATI Damper

Removed blower pulley, spacer & center bolt going into crank. Used three screw puller (balancer puller). The balance will not come off. I used a 1/2 drive breaker bar with pipe for leverage, and ended up stripping out the center bolt for puller.

How do I get this balancer off??

I replace the crankbolt with a piece of grade 8 threaded rod .The balancer hub only has a hole in it to clear the threads, a regular puller pushes against the end of the crank......not on the LT1 you need to push against the the threaded rod.

Yep, You are most likely bottoming out your puller on the hub itself. You need a 4 inch long grade eight 5/16 allen bolt to fit inside the crank snout. Then the balancer puller tip will fit into the allen bolt head. You also need three 4" 5/16 bolts and nuts to use with the puller. They screw into the hub threads. Hopefully you have your hub keyed so it hasn't spun. If its spun it will be a bear to get off.:)

OK..... tried the allen bolt method, and still not comming off. My next step is to break out the torch and apply some heat (yes, the ATI out hub is off) but that now commits me as this will roast the main seal.

What the hell is going on. Should this balancer be this tight??

I spun mine on my old motor and it made ribs inside the hub. I ended up cutting and chiseling it off. Not fun:(

<Note to self: Don't use ATI Damper> Jeez... good luck. How long has it been on there? It almost sounds like some level of electrolysis has occurred and it's chemically bonded the crank to the metal of the damper. Maybe it's just oxidation but that is worrying.
