I need to get creative...

I am getting closer to finishing the stalled auto conversion on my 95 LT1. A problem that I can foresee is the transmission lines. I am going from the originally installed T56 to a built 4L60E. I do not have any transmission lines currently on the car and I plan on running an aftermarket cooler mounted in front of the radiator. What are my options for running some type of line to the front of the car for the cooler? Is it possible to run some braided stainless lines? Or would it be cheaper to just purchase the stock metal lines off of a auto Z28? Does anybody have pictures or link that would help me out? I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

um if you can figure out a way to get them to you, you can have mine from my manual swap

It's pretty easy to put fittings in the tranny and just run whatever lines you want within the room available. If you want to go with steel braided lines, then just make sure you get a cooler that accepts fittings on it as opposed to one with barb fitttings. And Summit has some trans fittings, and they also have some slick quick disconnects if you want that feature. The hard lines are kind of a bitch to get in & out and if you use somebody elses, be sure to get new brass fittings for the ends or the ones that were with the lines originally or it will probably leak and will be really hard to fix.

just go to the parts store and get a couple pre made lengths of 5/16" brake line(probly 2 5ft sections),, that is all the factory lines are,, they will even have the correct fittings on them to screw right into the trans

pick up a cheap tubing bender while you are there or carefully bend them by hand, both methods work fine

I think I will try to pick up the trans fittings from Summit like Kevin said. Either that or I will just buy some stockers from a junk yard. I think that might be the best bet until I can figure out what size fittings need to be used. Thanks for the replies.

I can check when I go home today. My old tranny is laying in the garage. I think it is just a pipe fitting (npt) size into the case - 1/4 or 3/8 - I will have to see.

The fittings from both Jegs and Summit range from 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 NPT. I would appreciate it very much if you would check for me.

If I remember when taking mine off, it was 3/8". Been a few months though...

I went out and looked at it - My best guess from looking at it is 1/4NPT x 5/16 inverted flare. the only question I have from looking at it is that the fittings i have look like straight threads, not tapered, which makes me a little unsure.

I would like pictures of the Neutral saftey switch and what you did with the clutch switches and what not.

I have an A4 harness that goes from the PCM to the trans/engine controls.

And then today, I pulled out a complete interior harness from a 94 V6 car so I could trace all the wires .. lol

I haven't got that far yet. I figure the wiring will be one of the last things that I do. The cam is my main concern right now...

I went and bought hard lines today.. Going to go with a cooler like you, but the lines going into the tranny are 5/16" lines that advanced auto sells.. I will get a part number posted tomorrow...

I have dove in and should have the tranny in and possibly driving tomorrow..
