I have a 97 Z28 (in sig) and I'm about to send my pcm in to get retuned and i will still need my car for school. can i borrow a friend's old obd1 pcm from a 95 for a week and be ok? is there anything that needs to be done for it to work? I just need it for about a week til my tuned pcm comes back
Thanks.

The car should run assuming the PCM you are installing contains the same calibration in it that yours does. However, the knock sensors won't work correctly, this is one thing they changed between OBD1 and OBD2.

you also wont have a crank position signal, should still run though. So you'll have at least two SES codes, 1 being knock signal and 2 being crank signal.

He won't get a code for crank position, since the OBD-I PCM won't even be checking for that. He will get a code 43 for the knock sensor and timing will be automatically retarded. It should run, just not with a lot of power.
