Guess who has become a supporting Vendor...

Well, I am pushing forward with the turbo kits... even though its still a part time thing for me that i do out of the garage at home. I have become a sponsor here with the help of Jason the Admin. I am an Engineer in the Medical field by day, and lt1 turbo kit fabber' at night.

The turbo kit work is something that I will only do at night... part time. I use a mig welder, grinder, sawzall, drill press and basic air tools. Nothing special, but it gets the job done. If you want beautiful tig welds, my kits arent for you! If you want something that looks good and performs even better, then consider my kits. I getter better with the looks of my welds with the more kits I build. I created a website that lists some different types of kits and some pics (some picas like the cast manifold kit are old pics). The newer cast kit looks like the header kit, but with manifolds.

Check out the site: www.lt1boost.net

My new email is jon@lt1boost.net

My status under my username will be changing shortly and I am excited.

Just thought I would post... you should see a banner by early next week

Awesome man, your install guide is amazing too, thanks! Do you think you could do a write-up on tapping the pan and running oil lines, only thing I havent looked into yet.

I welded a bung onto my pan. Vortech has a special tool. You drill a small hole, then use this tool (long conical punch). You drive the punch in and it folds the metal into the pan. You then tap the threads on the folded in metal part. I have seen it before. Here is a general explanation:

http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?ID=30

Vortech sells the tap kit.

There is a ton of room in a 3rd gen in comparison... he could prolly just about guess and you would end up with a something that works. Only thing i see being an issue is figuring the downpipe without the car.

My paint and the paint Jon had been using seems to hold up surprisingly well honestly. This kit is aimed at the Do-It-Yourself crowd (aka... budget minded... coatings are never very cheap). So if you want some sort of coating you order it and do it yourself. Save yourself money that way anyways (you don't think he is going to have it coated and not mark up the coating price do ya???)

But honestly.... modern paint tech has come a long way. You would be surprised with just the spray paint.....

Yeah, the Rustoleum barbecue paint has lasted great on Justin's kit. He emailed me today wondering what in the hell I used since it has held up. The secret to the barbecue paint is to spray it on, then use a hand help heat source (I use the propane torch) and heat it. You literally see it cure on the spot when the heat hits up.

I want to state though, this stuff isnt a thermal coating, meaning it doesnt provide heat resistance like a coating, but it keeps the outside from rusting (mild steel) and it keeps it nice looking.

I understand that, but I'm trying to have it coated to keep the underhood temps down a bit since my turbo is going to be sucking that air in :). I was just saying that I'd pay a little bit more over having to ship my stuff out to a coater, paying shipping both ways, plus the price of coating, costs me more in the long run. I'm still looking for someone local however.

The driver's side needs to be changed from the bottom and the pass. side can be changes from the top. Pass. side will take 10 minutes to do all the plugs. Driver's side will probably be 30 minutes since you are on your back looking up.

I can actually do the front 3 on the drivers side from the top with a short extension in probably 10 minutes, VERY easy to get to. The last one is a pain though and I have to do from the bottom. Still easier than doing them with my old jet hot long tubes, and being a nitrous car I used to always check my plugs so I had lots of experience.

I dont think itll be that hard, Ill be sending Jon some pics of the passenger side tonight to see what he thinks. Im trying to see if his hot side parts would work in my thirdgen. I was looking at the turbo location for the 4th gen kits and on a thirdgen you have more room to move it out and forward, getting it away from the ICM. I may end up Just doing my own hotside parts or mix and match Jons harder to make parts.

How about you fabricate a single turbo kit utilizing the stock manifolds and retaining power steering and A/C. Design it to work with a smaller T60 or something and go ahead and fab up the cold side without and inter-cooler.

Make it cheap with decent quality as a complete kit and I'm sure you would sell plenty of them to the guys who want cheap "bolt-on" power.;)

With the amount of exhaust temp/pressure in the hotside of a turbo, its probably smart to ditch it. Not sure how the rubber lines from the smog pump would hold up.
