Locking converter under WOT bad?

I was adjusting my transmission tables on my 94' Z and noticed that the factory has the converter locking under WOT. Its only on the performance mode which I guess is only on the T/A's but it has it locking at 95mph in Drive and OD.

I thought it was a bad idea to lock the converter under WOT especially on a stock converter?
