Ok So My 1979 Camaro Z28 4 Speed Man. Is Making This Rotating Clacking Sound When Ever I Push On The Gas When I Let It Idle It Doesnt Make That Sound And You Can Hear It All The Way Down The Street . So If There Is Any One That Can Help Me Or Lead Me In The Right Direction Please Help . And Im Pretty Much Wondering If It Is Cheaper Just To Buy A New Engine... Thanks

Your description is kind of vague. Could be a rod bearing, loose rocker arm, busted vavle spring. Is it the original cam? Chevy had problems with cams in the 70s, heat treat or something. Lobes have a habit of rounding out. If it's aftermarket flat tappet, todays oils don't have as much zinc to protect the cam lobes as they used to, so cam failures happen, especially with cams using aggressive lobes.

I'd pop the valve covers to check for loose rockers, busted springs, etc. If you find a rocker loose, it might just need adjustment, or it might have a wiped out lobe. But if it's as loud as you say... probably a rod bearing.

Possibly not a rod bearing,maybe a broken flywheel,or a loose bolt on the fly.I belive you need to have someone with a good ear listen to it,
it may not be as serious as you think.

Pull the whole motor and drop in a 468....problem solved.:D
