Two alternators in one week

This is the second alternator that my car has eaten in just under a week. What's going on here?

Were they parts store remanufactured units? Buddy of mine went through a couple of them before getting a new GM.

Is the little wire intact?? I've heard that with that wire broken or not hooked up that the alternator will go crazy and could burn out.

Loose wiring somewhere??????? Is the battery OK?????????
