High boost on stock lt1 with intercooler and meth?

Okay heres the deal I have a 94 camaro z28 with the STS turbo kit. I'm currently running 5psi on low boost and 7psi with meth injection for the high boost - This is currently on a stock lt1 engine with a safe tune. Spring/summer time I plan to run a fmic plus my meth injection for a double cooling source. I still wanted to run 5psi on my low boost but I was wondering if I could run alittle more boost on my high setting. I was thinking 9-10psi with a safe tune. Could I run that much boost since I'm running a fmic and meth.injection at the same time???

I wouldn't want to go any higher than that. with a safe tune, meth and intercooled, you should be fine. as with any power adder application though, don't expect it to last forever

yes/no - dont do it
yes/yes - how long can you be without it?
no/no - eh can't hurt - have some fun with it
no/yes - why are you asking us? block of the wastegate and see what she does

how many miles are on it? I ran 9 PSI on my stock motor for over 3 years and never had a failure but i only had 40 k on the motor when it was all said and done. This was with stock injectors, a FMU, and stock tune. This was a daily driver also

Its all a matter of luck it seems with FI & stock LT1s.

Mine lasted 2 weeks with ~8-10# intercooled in the dead of winter (0 or below). When i got the motor apart I found the pistons... ringlands and all were 100% intact. I ended up walking the crank and spinning a main bearing or two.

I was so worried about my pistons i never thought i could be pushing too much power.

I say give it a try.. maybe she will hold long enough for you to get another motor built.

The thing I don't like about hyper pistons is that they seem to shatter. If a piece of piston gets in that turbo you could need a turbo rebuild with it.

Yeah if your putting a turbo you should do this at a minimum: pull the engine, put forged low compression pistons, new rings cam bearings etc... Then you could safely run 10+PSI OF BOOST AND NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT DETONATION SO MUCH. lATER

Detonation is still your enemy. You can rattle a nice forged motor apart in a matter of seconds too. Granted you will prob get a bit more time to get your foot out of it,,, it still comes down to getting enough fuel to match the extra air.

Well with the lower compression forged pistons you won't run into detonation so easy and tuning is the key to making it live.

Yet another question reguarding boosting a stock bottom end LT1... (WE NEED A STICKY!)

Stock bottom ended LT1's (or LS1's for that matter) were just not meant to handle boost from the factory. If you do all the supporting mods you have done (fuel upgrade, ignition, intercoolers, methanol injection, tune ect.) then you are improving your chances of lasting a while. Anything more than 8#'s of boost though and you are rolling the dice everytime you are putting the pedal to the floor. You might make it 25,000 miles, you might make it 2500 miles, but sooner or later, you will break something, and will be in need of a rebuild. Even running 4-6#'s of boost is still putting wear on a high CR, non forged internal engine that was not meant to handle boost. Its less wear than 6+#'s, but it is still wear none the less, and you will not see the same mileage out of the motor than if you were to stay N/A.

Best way to go (only way to go in my opinion) is to just save the money until you can build yourself a bullit proof bottom end with lower CR pistons, and forged internals. It IS costly, but its the only way to run boost and have the confidence that your motor will last.
