LS1 swap officially started, stage 1 pics!

With the sale of my engine and transmission and purchase of a 2003 LS1 Corvette motor, the swap has BEGUN!!! :D

Engine and trans. installed in a couple of weeks, try to get more pics up then! So far so good :)

keep that picture, because that is the closest it will come to ever pulling the front tire on that 10bolt :D

Best of luck to you, the LS1 is a great motor. Any mods to the engine before it goes in? What kind of trans are you going with? Not to be picky, but isn't the z28 badge supposed to be above the side molding?

The body shop put them on in the wrong place years ago.

LS2 flywheel/LS7 clutch combo if you plan on keeping it relatively mild.

The 2003 comes with an LS6 clutch, so it's not terrible, per se.... however, it's far from a "good" clutch. ;)

He's probably going to need a cable operated throttle body too. That one looks like the ETC (drive-by-wire) one from the Vette.

Nice Motor... but your Z28 Badges are on wrong... they should be on the upperhalf of the fender, not lower...

You can get a ported TB from Thunder Racing for $150.

Yeah its getting a ported throttle body, Pace setter LT's, TSP true duals, LS7 clutch kit is on the way, t-56 is on the way, pulleys and a home made CAI. That plus the fact that its going to tip the scales around 3,000 before driver,(i have some weight reduction and its a hardtop M6 with manual locks and windows and it won't have an AC), it should be pretty quick. As for the badges yes... When I had it repainted the body shop put them back on in the wrong place, been too lazy to change it but plan on replacing them with some LS1 emblems perhaps, or maybe the old school Z28 badges.

I'm curious, you had an LT1 with 400 RWHP almost, What was the need in the LS1 swap?

Chronic high rpm miss that nobody could diagnose. Spent entirely too much money to fix it at 3 different shops, nobody found the cause so I threw in the towel and bought an LS1. I need some reliability in my life!!! Also the old motor got about 11-12 MPG

Yeah went through about 4 of those darn opti's, so glad I won't have to deal with that again!

let me know if you need any help with your swap...just this last june did my swap too...

now i will be starting the process of swapping out ALL of the wiring in the car...and in the process i will be dropping my motor and swapping out a cam and some springs...

I strongly suggest you get long tubes and such BEFORE you put it back in...
